Anyways, I really liked it, hearted it. I'm going to try your other levels soon too.

EDIT: WTF, somebody glitched on your level CYMBOL and got a score of 627,000...
Yeah, somebody esle PM'd me about that - they got it in 2 player mode - but I can't think of how they did it. I looked at everything - there are no "safe" spots, everything goes into the gas, so I'm not sure how they did it.

LBP is glitchy. I had a guy who played my regular Puzzle Wheel level and said he missed the wheel and hit the wall, then spun for a second and went "through" the wall and died - but he somehow activated the checkpoint and so got to skip the entire wheel.

Just strange, I'll look at the level again, but I just can't imagine someone living that long.

Then again, fsavio got 21,000 which I never thought was possible either, so, who knows?

I'll PM the guy on PSN and ask him how he got that (in a nice way).

Btw, thanks for trying the level. The regular Puzzle Wheels is nothing like that, just so you know. Quite different. Remember, it takes over 20 minutes to get through. The Great Race is a simple level to get through and one I'm proud of (if you don't have the time for PW).

Nothing against Puzzle Wheels, of course, they're both awesome too, but The Great Race is my FAVE of all your levels. Especially since it's multiplayer, I can bring different players in there all the time, and playing it twice in a row won't make me sick They're all awesome, but The Great Race is more "fun" with greater replayability!

You and me. . . we're done professionally!

I definitely understand what you mean. Puzzle Wheels was rollercoaster for me to make cause I had actually made 3 of those in a level that crashed that had taken me a month to make. Then, I gave up on the Winter Series and decided to make the Puzzle Wheels a level all there own and it was a real labor to make and happened to turn out about 95% the way I planned/hoped. (All my levels before or since have had to be severely reduced in what they were supposed to be).

So, even though I'm most proud of Puzzle Wheels - I do understand it has little replayibility. Hopefully (at most), it's a cool level that isn't quite like the rest and people enjoy it - but it's a one or two time event.

The Great Race was/is my only level designed for more than one person. The whole design was based around at least 3 people - for the most part, it seems to have worked.

Btw, you will be happy to know that I have increased the replayibility factor in Puzzle Wheels II - once you complete it the first time, you'll get a sticker, that when used at the beginning of the level will enable race gates for ALL wheels!

I'd love to see the results of your attempt to recreate this Patapon costume.

It'd be fairly easy, wouldn't it? I mean, granted ANY recreation will not look as good as a bought item from official developers but you can sure try with this one at least. They already give u a wooden sword, They give you a wooden mask for your face, and i believe they give you a Indian headband with feathers on in it but either way u can use any head band or just stick those pink feathers to your head (shrink them to a good enough size) and then paint it all black. Then (now this is the only item you may have to go to a user created level for, but this must be easily found) stick a white swirl on top of your black cardboard on your face (again scale it down to appropriate size). That's all and I'm not the LEAST bit creative (look at my levels, they suck). Again, before you say anything, I again note that this wont be as good as a professional costume but it will get you close enough to that picture.

And, Shin, i dont know why your so bothered by that comment. I'm just (as many others) very grateful with the costumes MM has already given us so when we see something that is lacking from them or not up to their standards for paid DLC (and we DON'T know if this is going to be put a price tag on or not) it's our right as fans to tell MM that they can do better. The Streetfighter, MGS, and Wipeout characters CANNOT be recreated in game. They did an EXCELLENT job on that. This guy though (and the extra Killzone and HS character in their respective packs, but more than not this guy) can be and if we are asked to pay for them I'll be a little dissapointed. That's all I'm saying.

Cymbol and Steph,

I'd love to do a LBP Contra run with you guys sometime if you're down for it (it's 6-8 levels long...they recreated the whole game). Enjoyed playing with you Cymbol today in Warhawk and cant wait to play your levels in LBP (the only one I played and really liked was the first in your winter wonderland series...which I hear your discontinuing ).

I think that would look very crummy compared to their professional costume, nothing would be accurate, sharp. Lots of other costumes are coming so I'm not sure why you're complaining.

I'm not, I was just responding to you. And you came to the same conclusion I did. That while it would still look "crummy"/ unprofessional. So I'm glad we had this round about talk.

I'm not sure he's complaining about a lack of costumes, just that Mm might be slacking off a bit on this one, and still possibly charging the same price for it as they do for the other ones that look much better/took more than 2 minutes to make.

I'd be down for next Sat. (same time I did Warhawk this weekend). Yeah, glad you could join us for a few rounds.

I'd be up for doing the Contra levels - haven't tried them yet. (Although I've seen them. The previews look fantastic.)

My schedule will be totally out of wack this week. I'm doing nights, then switching to days half way through the week - Ugh! I'm going to be very tired and confused this week.

Thanks for the comments on Winter Wonderland. I would like to think I've improved a little bit since then so I hope you'll find The Great Race and Puzzle Wheels to be just as decent.

Btw, my Puzzle Wheel Survival Challenge really took off. Already over 600 plays. Of course, many of those are probably the same few people trying it over and over again - but the level has been on the Cool Levels page all day and has turned into one of those gigantic patches! I think it becomes a self feeding system, people keep replaying it, it gets bigger and moves up the cool levels pages - and people see the big patch with people playing it, so more people play it - and on it goes.

Nice to finally have a level catch fire.

THIS. It's like this guy and me share the same mind.

CYMBOL,

Next Saturday it is. Can't wait. Sounds like you have a mic too so that will be good. Hope you don't get too stressed out this week. Though take small comfort in the fact that you have a job right now while others (like me) are struggling. Hope things go well for you.

Are easier to match (with button presses or whatever) music game tracks cheaper to download?

Do we know there's just the one Patapon costume coming?

Wow my highscore is quite dated now... I don't think its a glich tho. If they really are good team mate its easier to have much bigger multiplier in teamplay. For exemple, the MGS challenge, to have the trophy, alone is almost impossible, but I did it with someone and we did after the second creature.

Anyway I'll have to work again in your wheel too claim back my title!!

BTW my level finaly went up from 2 to 3 stars!!! Yeah!!!

When you download a piece of music for Rock Band it's not just an MP3 is it. The developer has to match up the intended player control input with the music and with some tracks this would be a lot easier than others. I don't think they charge different amounts (on top of the base amount for licensing the track) depending on how difficult this process is.

Well guys, if you're looking for hearts and plays on your levels, I recommend 3 things.

2 of these I've simply witnessed, but the other just happened to my own level.
  • I notice levels seem to get played when named something familiar. LittleBig__"Insert well known game here". Don't know why, but people will play the heck out of these levels and give them 4 stars. All they have to do is offer something resembling the know IP and BAM - thousands of plays. The down side - it is harder than it looks to make something "recognizable" and playable.
  • Next is to make a music level. Part of the reason these do so successfully is again - it's "known". People see something familiar and gravitate towards it. The down side - it is very tedious work and requires you have a certain nack for earplay if you don't formally know your music notes.
  • Last is Survival Challenges. I made one of these recently and in a couple of days it now has almost 1,400 plays. Is it because it's the best level ever made? - Nope. Survival Challenges are typically short and lethal, which means players start, die and if they liked it, try again, and again, and again. This shoots up your plays and makes LBP think tons of people are trying your level. Most likely, it is a few people at a time trying it repeatedly. The down side - making a level that will definitely kill the player be "addictive", not purely frustrating.

I will say, very little has spilled over to my other levels. I hoped after checking out my Survival Challenge, people might feel inclined to try the actual Puzzle Wheels level, but it seems off and on. So, if you do make one of these levels, don't expect it to increase the traffic to your other levels too much. (But who knows, maybe if it gets enough plays people will be more likely to check out the other levels).

Hope this helps.
