Why would the Nariko costume give you a free pass to more content? You got your free costume already.

I think he is suggesting it should be at least "discounted" for those of us who went and got the game as a pre-order (supported the game when it first came out) and already have part of that pack.

Paying full price when you already own part of it seems a bit wrong.

I know what you're thinking - we got Nariko for free anyway, so we aren't actually paying extra. . . but we supported the game upon it's release and were rewarded with a supposedly "exclusive" costume. Many people went from store to store looking for this, and worse, some people spent LOTS of money on ebay for this "exclusive" code. The least they could do to reward the folks who supported the game from the beginning is give them a buck off.

The dollar doesn't really matter one way or the other in the end, it just would have been a bit more respectful to those who where there at the beginning.

I'm thinking why should we get two favours? You preordered, got your prize (which Sony never claimed wouldn't be available by other means later on) and now you expect money off a greater package.

Sorry but I have no sympathy for those that paid for free DLC codes.

Ah, but you neglect to mention that they did not say they WOULD be available later. Many people (including me) decided to pre-order based on getting this exclusive costume - and deciding to support the game from the start. IF they had mentioned it would be available for purchase later - that might have save a LOT of people (including me) time from driving from store to store looking for available copies.

Again,
1. Not everybody could find pre-orders available in their area. (Being "free" does no good when you can't get them).
2. They paid because they thought it was a "one-time" exclusive, and they were/are fans of the game.

I have sympathy for them - but I guess that's just me.

I don't buy costumes - only level packs or packs with materials for building.

They've started to try and hook in both groups (those who buy costumes and those who buy materials/creating items), but including stickers with costumes - but many of the stickers are exclusive to that game; so unless you are building a level for that specific game, they usually don't do much good.

I'm pretty much the same way unless it's a pretty cool costume.

I have everything but the Christmas pack. I totally missed the boat on that one. I went to the Little Big Store to buy it one day and it was gone. Back then, I didn't know some items wouldn't be available forever.

This isn't surprising, who lists everything they might do in the future? As an able-minded individual you understand that something free can still be offered in the future standalone or part of a greater package.

And you did get your free costume. That's what Sony offered and they provided it. If stores make it difficult for you, complain to them.

They paid because they missed their chance at getting it free, wanted the costume(s) ASAP and took the risk that they may be available cheaper on the PS Store at a later date.. but they still got them earlier.

If people can't work these obvious things out for themselves, why feel sorry for them?

An "able-minded" individual? What does that even mean?

Anyway, I'd say, any "able-minded" individual would have to assume that the pre-order exclusive - was limited to that time frame. I bet if I had asked you back then if they would be offering Nariko later as a DLC, you'd probably advise me that I should get it now, since there is no garuantee that it would be offered later.

That is what most "able-minded" folks assumed and that is why they made the decisions they did.

Again, I think 99% of the people assumed this was a one time shot, since nothing was ever otherwise hinted at.

Work what out? Assume that previously exclusive content will be offered for a price later? No one can predict that - and so many acted accordingly (paying on E-Bay for what they considered was an exclusive, one-time deal).

Your whole lack of empathy seems to be based on the fact that people should have considered this option - when no option was hinted at.

Oh well, I guess you and I just have different ideas on what the situation was and what people's options were (based on the information given at the time).

I'll let you have the last word if you'd like, but I'll go ahead and end this so we don't fill up the thread with it.

Thanks for the polite conversation, Shin-Ra.

Well, you got it free and 6 months earlier than most people. Sucks that you had to drive around to find a Best Buy that would honor your pre-order, but that really is Best Buy's fault. Also, anyone who paid $50 for it on eBay is just plain silly. You of all people should know that the world has bigger problems than the perceived value of intangible goods. Don't worry about it too much, stay safe, call the wife and sackbaby, and have a happy Easter.

Don't know if that's Best Buy's fault or not - they were out of games at one store, and I got the last one at the next store - but not everyone has multiple Best Buy's they can go to.

Yeah, I know it's silly, that's why I ended it and thanked Shin-Ra for the conversation - I'm bored at the moment - but I have a LOT of work ahead of me in the next few weeks and doubt I'll be visiting these boards much.

Thanks, Happy Easter to you too.

I appreciate it. It does suck that our exclusive preorder content can now be had by everyone at that we get no money off the new pack. I want Kai, but it sucks paying to get Nariko again.

I will say my preorder code was mine and I did not pay extra for it. Am I surprised it came out to buy? No. Am I bummed we don't get a discount? Yes.

I'm with Cymbol and Groovy... It's BS that they're offering the DLC now and we get nothing.

People that didn't get it originally and are jumping on the game now find it easy to say we shouldn't complain... but when you went to multiple stores looking for something that you're lead to believe will be limited and exclusive then you complain when it's given away later.

I thought it was bad enough that the GOW level never came out for those that got a gamestop pre-order... now the costumes are available to all.

It makes PERFECT sense that i'd get the GOW stickers at a deal, or others would get the HS dlc at a discount. EVERYONE "able-minded" or not thinks that getting a pre-order exclusive will be exclusive to that time period as well as that store.

I got Nariko at launch, free.

Why should I get a discount on the new pack when I got what I was originally offered?

I just published my first level a couple of days ago, "Temple of Mood". 12 people have played it, 2 people have hearted it and the only tag is "frustrating". Frustrating?! I was hesitant to even publish the level because I thought it was too easy. I would appreciate it if some of you ran through it and gave me some feedback, either here or just on the game. You can find the level by "Temple of Mood" or my author name is "Y3kBug".

I was expecting tags like short, simple, etc...but frustrating?

While I'm at it, I might as well shamelessly grovel for the level to be hearted as well as hearting the author, so:

Thanks so much.

I always try to have others play my levels BEFORE publishing to get those questions answered (is it too hard/easy). I'm not the greatest LBP player, but I can often play/beat my own levels because I designed them and now to they should be best approached (timing, angle, etc.) - but others can't seem to do it. Of course, I play my levels a hundred times over as I'm creating, so maybe it's just practice makes perfect.

Either way, it's best to test before publishing.

One thing you might want to check (besides difficulty level) is to go and play the published level. LBP is glitchy, and sometimes it will delete something you created, or something strange - it could be that something isn't working and people can't finish the level. Play the online version to ensure everything is still working properly - you'd be surprised how easily your level can get messed up from simple fixes you've made.

I'm away for a while - otherwise, I'd give it a shot.
