this game should be a kicker for the consol more than just another fps... I agree

The rest of the titles only get nerds like me excited...lbp should step outside that by a good leap.

Developer: ‘Little Big Planet’ Public Beta Still Possible

Quote:
Reports of the public beta’s cancellation emanating from an early May Sony event in Europe were labeled a “miscommunication” by the game’s technical director Alex Evans from development studio Media Molecule.
Quote:
It’s not a dead issue, Evans said. He said that the game is currently in private beta and that what the game’s team meant to tell the European press is that “There’s no public beta now.”

I asked if there will be a public beta and he said: “It’s a question of how much, how big.” He wouldn’t give me a definite yes, but it appears once more to be possible.

5 Incredible ‘Little Big Planet’ Details — Including How Enemies Work

Quote:
1) How Enemies Work — I kept hearing that each new “LBP” press demo would finally reveal the game’s enemies. But in each demo — including the one I went through last week — they were not in there. I asked Evans about this; what he told me made me realize I had been expecting the wrong thing. The developers at Media Molecule aren’t focusing on giving players pre-made enemies.
Instead, Evans said the game will ship with five or six artificial intelligence brains. He wouldn’t tell me what the AI behaviors would be, but explained that a “LBP” user would be able to apply them to their creations in the game’s editor. Whether or not the AI brains will drive your creations effectively depends on your designs. For example… did you put wheels on the giant attack-llama?

wow everytime i hear about this game its gets better and better, did you see number 3?
Quote:
I proposed an idea to Evans that he said was 100% do-able: I could line a level with speakers, one set up every few steps — and set them all to play the same song, but queued up from different parts. Doing this, I could make it so that if a player ran through my level at a certain pace, he or she would hear the song play perfectly. Running at the wrong pace would cause the player to hear the song play in a choppy fashion.

Alex Evans - Part One

Quote:
One of the biggest releases for the PlayStation 3 this year is LittleBigPlanet, a title that's become almost as much of a buzzword in its own right as the user-generated content that it's championing.

Ahead of delivering a keynote speech with Mark Healey at this year's GDC Paris, co-founder of LBP's studio, Media Molecule, talks to GamesIndustry.biz about how the buzz around the game all started, and why transparency has helped build trust with publisher Sony.
edit: much more interesting interview here..

LittleBigPlanet dev chats about story mode, adult content, and Sackboy plushies

Quote:
Can we expect more quirky music (featured in the trailers) in the game?

Absolutely. We've got some real gems in there. I won't name them now and spoil the surprise. But we've got ... well, I forget the number. We've got several really cool tunes in there from bands that aren't necessarily very well known. In addition to that, we've got a whole set of interactive pieces of music. So, things like the Go Team track are effectively licensed track that you can place into a level if you like and they just play. But we've got some other pieces of music where you can actually tinker with a virtual mixer, so you can alter what they sound like. You can alter the drums, or the bass, or change the vocal parts. You can sequence that and have different mixers throughout the game. Hours of fun just messing with that. I'm not going to say more about that ... but that's very cool. There's some exciting things related to that in store. It's something that's never been done before, I don't think.

Are there any plans to sell Sackboy plushies?

I hope so. I want one. And everyone I know wants one. I think it'd be silly not to really. I don't know what plans have been made to start the process, but I think it's a no-brainer, really. I need one to give one to my newborn child, to start. [Ed's note: check the podcast for more details on that!] So that's got to happen. Do you know anything about that Brandon?
Brandon: It's on the way. Details will be emerging shortly.

Imagine if they used a fuzzy material that you (well.. kids ) could stick bits to to customise it.

I would totally buy a sackboy plushie. Two even (one as a gift for my 12 year old niece, who perpetually asks me when LBP will be released every time I see her).

And you may not have seen the..

LittleBIGPlanet
CHARACTER CREATION COMPETITION

Quote:
LittleBigPlanet is a new type of game in which characters and levels are designed by players, who can then share their creations with the world. It's a platformer with a creative edge - described as the Youtube for games, it's going to be an endless pixel canvas for your wildest design schemes.
Sony have asked us to seek out the best character design to be incorporated into the retail version of the game. That means, of course, that not only will hundreds of thousands of people see your design, but they'll be using it throughout the game - a fairly unparalleled way of getting your unique style recognised.

Your character will be in good company - so far, 20 creative visionaries have contributed their level designs, including: Build, Kate Moross, Peepshow, Trevor Jackson and Yuko Kondo.

This is the most over hyped game by users and the media ever. If it was a nintendo wii game no body would think twice about it. All these adults are acting like little kids, sure the game is cute but I think its more geared twards 10-14 year olds. The level building is not going to fun and take forever. Playing a level will get boring after about an hour. I have a ps3 so dont call me a xbox fanboy but I do feel that it is another ps3 exclusive that is going to fail big time. I have about 3 games for ps3 Heavenly sword, mgs4 and uncharted and about 35 games for xbox. I hope socom and killzone 2 will help the ps3 but then again I shouldnt be judging there are porbably alot of people who will like this game and buy it and play it. Its just not the type of game for me really. I guess the more games the better I just wish we would have gotten something else for a ps3 exclusive instead of this.
