I don't have time to read all the interim posts since my absence but I hope someone here covered the new Sony camera, the Venice.
Later. P.S. I've got friends and family on Marco Is. and in Naples....not to mention we still keep a place there (see my old posts). |

HDR's promise is stunted by reluctant developer support
We speak to game developers and hardware manufacturers about the emerging color standard. http://www.pcgamer.com/is-hdr-worth-...for-pc-gaming/ |

Video games were already putting way too much money into development and having to pray for mass market appeal when I stopped gaming years ago. Developers would crumble and fall based on one bad bet because the cost to consumer ratio was stupidly irresponsible. Everything I have read says it's only gotten worse in the big-budget sphere, so adding HDR and 4k to the mix sounds like a nightmare. The article makes sense to me.

Awfully quick to judge a man's route to put food on the table eh? Jonny posted on Twitter earlier this year about the current struggles of writers these days. The pay is getting worse, therefore they need to write more articles for more sites to keep their income the same. He specifically said websites started only offering him 50% ofwhat they normally pay. Hence why he's expanded his website tree for articles. |

Dude, I'm not a pro but I've been writing reviews long enough (over 12 years now) to know how pathetic the situation is for online journos in an age when everyone and their granny has a blog/youtube channel/whatever to espouse their views and can become an instant expert (

Didn't Think There Was An HDR TV Format War? There Is Now – John Archer
https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarc.../#6ded7c6e14da ![]() Why contribute to create an artificial HDR format war? It won’t bring any benefit to consumers! Facing inherently incompatible formats like Blu-ray vs HD DVD, consumers have to choose a side. It is not the case with HDR formats. Consumers can just require Dolby Vision TV makers or HDR10+ TV makers to just add a piece of HDR software in order to be compatible with the other HDR format. This upgraded TV will remain the same: same panel, same electronic parts, same mechanical parts! http://www.avsforum.com/forum/465-hi...l#post50302361 For example, the Sony Z9D doesn’t support Dolby Vision at launch. Quote:
Then, the Sony Z9D will get Dolby Vision with a free software upgrade. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/40-ole...l#post54095697 Thank you, Sony! A real consumer-oriented TV maker! Universal HDR TV is a big plus for consumers: consumers can watch any existing HDR content they want! |
