HD DVD has a combined mux rate of 28.8mbps, split however you want between audio and video I believe.

30 Joined, 28 for Video alone. Mux has to be below 29.8. Video alone of Shoot Em Up wouldnt work on any HD DVD player, its way too high bitrate. I remember when people first discovered you could burn MPEG2 HD Content to DVDs and play them on HD DVD and blu-ray players, there was a Samsung demo video with VERY high bitrates. It worked fine on blu-ray players, but the audio had to be removed for it to work on HD DVD, since the bitrate was too high. This case is no different. They would need to re-encode the ENTIRE film, and way more carefully, to fit it onto a HD30.

I believe the claim is the only BD-50 in consumers' hands right now came from DADC or Cinram. A few months ago the claim was it was only DADC. Next it will be the set that exists then.

The claim should be easy enough to confirm or deny.

But, behind it all, DV has been trying to seed the idea there is a problem getting the other lines up to acceptable commercial yields.

New lines, especially from new makers (like Singulus) won't come up quickly. It could take many months. I don't think there is anything odd about this.

Well then a tip of the hat to the mods and owners of AVS as apparently their new rules are truly having some effect.

I guess that makes it official then, HDD is the *old* AVS or the new front for the Red Brigade of HD DVD.

Lol, they must have had great fun with the tongue in cheek macho-man kickin arse post I made a couple pages back to Esox.
I guess they have nothing else to offer so they’ve resurrected the replication line doomsday scenario while holding their collective breaths over which way Warner will tilt…….which will sort of make the discussion moot anyway.
to be fair I can still do some good attacks on HD-DVD and I haven't been banned once the mods there I think are more Neutral then the AVS mods from what I hear.

There's always the other half of the equation - current production is exceeding current demand (as far as any of us know). With that said, how much information can really be drawn out of who is and who isn't manufacturing what?

HD DVD has a lower bit rate, so of course they need more time...

I make it 25:2, so 92.6%

It will be embarassing though if they have to switch discs in the middle of the press conference.

Not a questioning post, but this avs --> hdd migration reminds me of the 'homeless' episode in SouthPark. Shift in the, ahem, infestation from one location to another...

OK, I will check anyway, just to make sure because it looks like this was done with the PS3 bitrate meter which is notoriously unreliable.

It is basically an internal test, WB will gauge consumer response on places like here and AVS. If you liked Shoot 'Em up, then buy it, if you didn't then don't waste your money, their targets aren't based on sales.
Thanks, Max! This is FANTASTIC NEWS! I had not been planning to get this release, but I have definitely ordered it now.

Well, the run time of Queens' "We Are the Champions" is 3:28 so the question really is what are the BDA going to do with the other 56:32?

I am a longtime AVS member who became disgusted by the treatment of Blu insiders and consequently migrated here. I hardly celebrated any red insider who spread misinformation upon which consumers relied. Before removed, here and there, it was refreshening to finally read a proportionate response.

Max its a pity that the red side don't care enough about their reputation as the blu side obviously does. I have found your posts to be balanced and fair unlike some of the MS insiders over on AVS and now HDD. MS obviously loves spreading FUD and lies.

The consequences of my little stint on AVS have been made perfectly clear, I will no longer be allowed to post there until further notice and I will be serving a two day posting ban over here imposed by work.

I suppose all actions have their consequences...
What am I missing here, what was said about Amir?
