So I guess I'm just inquiring as to where I could find out more so I can respond hehe (I think I'm about to get double teamed by Amir and DV there lol).

I hope it's okay to ask this here, because even though it's something that would affect Warner...this question isn't about Warner, it's about BD-50 replication. =) (And Panasonic's in particular.)

Thank you. =)
Those guys don't have a clue. Amir's information is 2 months old and he never had access to Blu-ray disc replication information and David Vaughn is a DISC REVIEWER.

He is not an insider.

But it won't. :P I've posted it over @ HDD and I am already getting crapola for the chart.

I swear, you can post that a rock is a rock and the Red Ants will argue it for spite's sake.

Max, Penton or anyone in the know:

So we have word on Shoot Em Up reaching bitrates higher than HD DVD can handle. Bitrate benefits aside. what does this say about Hairspray being authored to fit on HD DVD, but a newer titles like Shoot Em Up needing to be reencoded to fit on HD DVD. Im not necessarily reading anything into this, but IF WB were leaning one way or another, (for arguments sake red) why would they handcuff themselves into having to reauthor the encode for future HD DVD release if they intended to drop BD.

to me. This is the most substantial news yet out of the WB camp that perhaps BD is viewed favorably over yonder. any word from those who know something about encodes and the process please enlighten us on what scenerios would explain why NL/WB would do this...and we KNOW it aint out of the goodness of their heart!

Amir is such an douchebag, so much for his "retired insider" status.

That's why it's pointless to argue with them. Quit while you are ahead, I did. Either way, once WB announces their intentions, there will be little left to argue about...

They are in self denial. They would make Saddam Hussein proud of the methods they use to twist the facts so they appear to favor HD-DVD. But then again if they support HD-DVD what else can you expect. I actually am starting to feel sorry for Amir, the poor guy has no life, and he appears to be on the verge of a breakdown. As Max stated this guy should step back and refocus his energy. He still can be a good engineer but he is a lousy politician (and a really bad liar).

Esox50, WHV is considering re-encoding 'Batman Begins' for Blu-ray? That would be awesome.

There's always causalities in war and it would certainly appear that amir's psyche took a direct hit...

Where did you read that this might happen? I'm still smoldering from being burned over Happy Feet with no lossless audio on BD...

I just got to read it after Kevin locked it down and now it looks like it has disappeared into the *AVS deletion vault*, as if never having existed.

The most amusing thing was Amir bragging about his close (2 years?) working relationship with the folks at WB. Well, that “close working relationship” as well as the concerted internet campaign on AVS to get cjplay back online posting wasn’t worth a hill of beans…………. was it.

Well, of course, it was tongue in cheek.

But since I am a true believer in accurate information, I believe that the comments I made regarding all three’s (paid, Amir and Stephen) physical appearance is 100% correct……….having been in the presence of all three on more than one occasion.

Amir, Kosty and HD NOW (Rdjam) have now infiltrated the thread and it's gone from the initial debate to replication, etc. Yes, it's official, the Red Ant colony has taken to swarming and their new home is HDD.
That is quite funny as it kind of reminds me of the termite situation in much of Southern California.
You see, when somebody’s house gets infested with termites, their house gets tented to fumigate the pests and invariably thee ole termites somehow escape (I guess while the tent is being erected?) to the next door neighbor’s house for safe harbor.

Those termites have small brains but they aint totally stupid. They get while the gettin’s good. The next door neighbor then has to deal with a termite problem…….ultimately, as they eat the infrastructure away as they did with the prior house.

+1 on this. It has to cost a studio a LOT of money to completely reauthor a film twice to comply with two different specs. Which means they also HAVE to realize that they need to "dumb down" the specs for an HD DVD release. Why in the world would a studio accept that as the format to back when they KNOW that the consumer isn't getting the best version of their film that they could.

I'll do some research into the Shoot-em-up situation, see what I can find out.

More than likely they might be planning to just do a DD+ or something on the HD side.

Uh... more than likely they haven't given it too much thought, given that it may never see the light of day.

But isnt there a cap on video bitrate for HD DVD as well? I dont have the movie yet, but posters are relaying the video is peaking into the 40's at times. I dont think its a audio/video bitrate problem combined, so i dont think the DD+ difference would help in this case. But again, i dont own it and cant confirm.

HD DVD's video bitrate maxes at 28mbps, I think.

Is it at all unusual that the hd presentation at CES is 2 hours and ours is 1?
