There are definitely users who consistently bash OLED. When something is expensive, there will always be those who bash a product they can’t afford in order to make themselves feel better about what they have. Apple iPhone is a good example and Samsung owners are classic suspects.

With OLED prices decreasing, this will become less of an issue. Envy.

I wasn’t talking about you. I know your two years are up and you’ll be getting a top of the line OLED next. Although shame on you for not supporting OLED in 2016.

I know. You’re a Sony fanboy. So you’ll be getting the A9F (equivalent to C8). But I honestly can’t justify your LG hate. Modern LG TVs are absolutely fantastic and C8 wipes the floor with ZD9. I have a similar hate towards Samsung, but that certainly is justified.

It always is when someone has their own hates and hang-ups to justify. As Velvet said: humans gonna human.

Why do you keep trolling him about getting an OLED? You’re definitely the guy who checks out birds at the urinal.

Cuz Geoff can take a joke. But in all honestly, I hope he gets into OLED. It’s enlightening and a spiritual experience for a film fan.

Yes he can but you always ask him. You’re obsessed with him getting an OLED lol.

You don’t have to sell me on an OLED.

Lol. I guess I feel his passion for film. And if he got an OLED I’d be excited for him!

Maybe so. There are other forums where the negative banter is more excessive. Forget it. I gotta be able to look the other way when these discussions get going. Meh.

So then, back to HDR is Crayons....

That was around $10K here... I think it clearanced around $6K...

I think my 940 is said to be close in PQ, just far less dimming zones, and older processor so no DV...the latter disappointed me. $7K, clearanced half that.

Yeah know those feels. In Ausland it's really just too much money to justify the ZD9 price because of it's 65" entrypoint. Here you pay nearly double for 65" over 55" sets, across the board really. So wish it came in 55" because I would pay $3KAUD for that kind of FALD LED (when again, it costs 5-6K min. to get any one) performance and I don't mind positioning the couch closer than 50% of the HT space, as compared to most folk.

I will be for the C8. Oh, well.

Mine is LG, but their customer service is atrocious. Spent £1300 on a new 4K LED TV in 2016, had awful light bleed issues. They said it was "within their tolerances" for this technology and wouldn't do anything. Returned it to the store in the end and they were more helpful and swapped it for another of the same model which isn't as bad and I still have and took out 3-year repair or replace insurance with the store at the same time.

Couple this with OLED burn-in, and potentially you have an issue. I certainly wouldn't trust them to help if I bought an OLED and it got burn-in even with appropriate careful use. Third party insurance is the only way to go as they don't give a damn once they have your money.

That's good, 'cause I don't give a **** what TV you have either and don't expect anyone really cares that I have a LG TV either.

I'm just saying that in my own experience, LG have shite customer service and I would recommend anyone wanting to spend a fair bit on one take out some insurance to cover themselves because LG certainly won't. If you were unlucky enough to get OLED burn on one of their TVs I can pretty much guarantee they'd try and blame the customer to get out of any sort of repair or replacement.
