Giants shouldn't have won last year.. SB teams dont lose by 30 points to the Seahawks and get swept by the Redskins with no QB and a so so defense.. thats why i rank AFC West over them.. Broncos, Raiders, Chargers have been more consistant over the past 3 years.. Raiders and Chargers are due to have a great season with their additions and Chiefs could surprise as well.. Cowboys do look like the real deal this year and the NFC East could potentially be great.. but like i said im not basing my predictions off of this season cuz its too early to tell anything.. Bills started teh year last season 5-0 and looked how that turned out.. should be a fun season and I'm just happy football is back

Yep, I still say 49ers would have won it all last season without Butterfinger Williams losing that ball.

Saying it again now. Watch out for those 49ers!

I say this years NFC Championship game is 49ers vs Cowboys (but Falcons also can get there) Packers run is over.. they can't stop anybody on Defense and have zero running game.. Patriots is my guess on winning it all though, they have a running game now and picked up some great defenders.. a sick offense with a great defense is hard to stop

lol there is no shouldn't have won. They won no matter the circumstances. The 49ers should not have put themselves into that position to lose the game like they did. The Giants still had to go out there and beat 4 teams in the playoffs on the road (counting the SB) to win the SB. I think they deserved it. Before the Steelers got Tebowed, when was the last time an AFC West team won a playoff game?

Whoa whoa whoa. Let's not annoint the Patriots defense as great just yet. They faced a Jake Locker Titans team that was missing their #1 receiver.

Britt is always going to be missing.. hes had to many knee injuries.. i fear the worse for him.. they held CJ to 4 yards rushing for crying out loud.. Locker got knocked out of the game and so did Nate, but they were losing even when that happen.. of course you're going to say this you're a Jet fan, you have to hate the Pats.. Pats defense stepped up today, yes its only one game but they made enough moves over the off season to really fill that need.. Pats made it last year to the SB with the worst pass defense in the league and a horrible run D. oh and zero running game.. they can only go up from there! the team is built to suceed

So essentially 3+ years ago. So how can you possibly say the AFC West is better than the NFC East when the Giants have won more playoff games than the AFC West in the past 4 years? Not buying it.

As for the Pats, I'm not that impressed with the CJ2YPC performance. After the year he had last year, that type of performance by a defense is not too impressive. I mean of course I'm somewhat biased, but I'd rather see them put up that kind of performance against a decent offensive team before we declare them "great." Talk about putting the cart before the horse. You don't hear me saying the Jets offense is one of the top offenses in the league since we hung 48 on the Bills. Just a little perspective.

Edit: I'm not trying to hate on the Pats although I would love nothing more than to do that. I'm just saying let's see how that D plays after a couple of weeks. I will say they looked improved, and Chandler Jones seems like a keeper.

didnt the Giants miss the playoffs in 2010 and 2009? I believe they did.. thats how i put the AFC West over them.. the teams in taht division progressively have gotten better.. Giants got lucky last year. i won't believe otherwise, yeah they won some great games to get to the NFC Championship but should have not won that game.. Williams doesn't fumble (Ginn is the PR for that team but was injured that game) they win the game. and yea you can't say the Jets offense looked good because Fitzpatrick was so bad taht all his turnovers gave the Jets great field position and the majority of this throws are laughable, the jets corners didn't even have to try. Greene ran 29 times for 94 yards.. nothing impressive about that.. so thats why you cant' say "Jets offense is one of the top offenses in the league" because you would be lying if you did oh btw im not a Pats fan either.. my boys will be tearing up MNF!

Yeah you could say that about the Jets if you were looking just at the box score. Sanchez looked like a completely different QB. Ask moviefan (lol I had to). He was very crisp on most of his throws except for one mistake. The offensive line manhandled the much touted Buffalo front seven. Howard took care of Mario Williams by himself. Stephen Hill looked like a monster today. Santonio looked like himself and Kerley emerged as a decent WR3. Sorry there was really nothing negative to take away from the offense today other than Keller being a non-factor. They played really well and took the foot off the pedal. Otherwise we would have scored at least 60 today. We were that good.

Again it's just 1 game. I want to see the Patriots play better offenses and not give up gobs of offense. Just want to put a break before people get all knee-jerk and start declaring the Pats defense as "great." 49ers, Ravens, Steelers, Jets all have great defenses. They have proved this for several seasons. The Pats have 1 game to rest their laurels on.

Edit: There is not 1 SB potential team in the AFC West. There are 2 in the NFC East and WAS and PHI are no slouches either.

So how do you put the AFC West ahead of the NFC South? I mean, you'll get to see the dominance this year since the NFCS plays the AFCW, but I don't think it's close. NFCS consistently has had 2 teams considered playoff bound every year for the past 4-5 years (though there may only be the Falcons this year). The AFCW is always reserved for the division champion.

As a Peyton Manning fan I'm very glad he had a good night last night against a tough D (but Manning made them average in the 2nd half) when he completed 5 or 6 passes in a row.

I can argue that statement all day the Broncos looked good yesterday against a very good Pitt team, and KC has a very potent offense with potentially the best running game in the league, both in AFC West.

You talk about not hanging hats on week 1, yet your statements hang on exactly that. Philly looked terrible, but I dont think they are as bad as they looked, so did NO but that's no indication of how they will play and while WAS looked phenomenal against NO you and I both know that is not indicative of how a rookie QB is going to play every week. OAK and Chargers may not be that bad but we have yet to see them play.

Last night's Broncos-Steelers game got a 18.0 rating, making it NBC's highest-rated regular season game ever.

The Broncos have a chance to go and have a better defense then the Jets.. teh Jets defense was pretty bad last year, finishing 6th in the pass and 14th in the run.. the Browns and Texans both finished higher in defensive ranks. actually the Browns were number 1 against the pass.. when i think Great defenses i think the Broncos, 49ers, Steelers, Texans, Giants.. This year i have a feeling the Cowboys and Falcons are going to improve a lot on the defensive side of the ball.. the Jets and Ravens are getting older on defense and will get worse and worse until they start bringing in younger players.. as you saw yesterday with spiller embarassing them

I'm sure it will be dominance this year, but if you read waht i wrote i said im basing nothing off of this season and predictions, just going on the past 2-3 years.. the Falcons dont win playoff games but they get there every year, actually i can't remember but i think they won last year.

If Vick doesn't start playing better than this is going to be his last year in Philly. Vick is due $15.5 million next year ($3 million of which is guaranteed for injury only) and there's no way the Eagles are paying that unless Vick shows he can be a top-tier quarterback. Nick Foles looked great in the preseason and they may decide they have a brighter long-term future with him as the starter rather than Vick.

Default quick question...

Is 'defense' pronounced 'da-fence' or 'dee-fence' or either one?
Why I ask is because a friend of mine keeps correcting me.
(edit: btw I thought it was either way.)

I obviously can't stand the Jets, but that statement couldn't be farther from the truth. They've had a good defense for years. 6th in pass is excellent and 14th in run is very solid.

I'm still really down about our loss yesterday, we have to come out like a wounded animal that is cornered next Sunday. This game is going to show the character of our team. We took one right to the kisser yesterday, but we'll get right back up and pound the Chiefs! Go Bills!

It looks like David Nelson is going to be out for the season with a knee injury, and the extent of Freddy Jackson's knee is still unknown until he gets an MRI later today. The Nelson injury hurts a lot more than Jackson because of our lack of depth at receiver. Thank the good Lord we have Spiller to replace Jackson.
