DirecTV is considering dropping NFL Sunday Ticket when their contract expires after the 2014 season:

Quote:
DirecTV CFO Pat Doyle said at a Wednesday investors conference that, if the price goes up too high when the current NFL Sunday Ticket deal expires after the 2014 season, DirecTV would consider “striking a non-exclusive deal with the NFL or possibly even dropping the popular package,” writes the Hollywood Reporter, via SportsBusiness Daily.

The fact that there’s no new deal only two seasons away from expiration of the current contract isn’t a good sign, given that the NFL usually extends these things years in advance. Complicating matters is the fact that the popularity of the RedZone channel, now available via cable, has made the Sunday Ticket package less important to many fans. Also, the availability of every game on NFL Rewind after the fact reduces the attractiveness of features that previously were exclusive to DirecTV.

Oh ok, I was pissed at the Steelers. So he's trying to break the bank then huh? I hate losing him but we'll be alright with out him.

It might be at our expense though...

Mike Wallace to the Vikings to replace Percy Harvin could be amusing.

49ers released K David Akers

Quote:
The Sideline View's Adam Caplan reported the move was imminent on Monday. Just one year removed from one of the greatest kicking seasons in NFL history, Akers left the 49ers no choice after shanking 13-of-42 field-goal attempts last season. He narrowly avoided a handful of other misses. Akers' résumé is impressive enough that teams should be willing to ignore an off year, but at 38, he may not get a job until a team finds itself in a desperate situation.

According to the Miami Herald, "some believe" there will be a stronger than expected market for free agent Reggie Bush.
Perhaps Bush's agent is part of the collective "some." Beat writer Adam Beasley confirms it's a "near-certainty" Bush hits the open market. The Dolphins are moving on.
Of course he is gone. He doesn't fit in our offense. Coaches didn't like seeing him dancing in the backfield. Philbin's offense is all about hitting the right hole at the right time.

Here's come Lamar Miller!

I wouldn't mine having Reggie Bush on my team, just as a third down back. Like the way the Saints used him.

I'e always considered kickers similar to closers in baseball. They have a highly specialized job and there's no such thing as an average game for either. They either close a game out successfully or they end up the goat. A lot of it is psychological with kickers.

Remember the 1998 Vikings? They went 15-1 and their kicker Gary Anderson was literally perfect. The guy was 35-35 kicking FG's and 59-59 kicking extra points in the regular season. In the NFC title game he missed the kick that would have won the game.

Man, I remember watching that game and thinking, I can't believe the dam kicker just ruin one of the best season's ever.

Chiefs released RT Eric Winston

I remember wanting that guy badly last year. We could have used our 2nd round pick on a WR.

Quote:
Winston just signed a four-year, $22 million contract with Kansas City last offseason, but after franchising LT Branden Albert on Monday and there being a plethora of young tackle prospects in the draft, his services were no longer needed. The move saves just $700,000 in cap space. Winston should have plenty of options on the open market. For what it's worth, he's played most of his career in a zone-blocking scheme. A reunion with the Texans would make some sense. The Dolphins, Rams, Ravens, Redskins, and Lions also showed interest in him last offseason. His release clears a path for the Chiefs to take one of Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft if they so choose.

If this happens I wonder if NFL Sunday Ticket goes to all providers or if someone like Comcast or Verizon will pony up the dough to get it exclusively.

Mike Wallace is overrated. He is a one trick pony to be honest. He is explosive and that is about all he brings to the table. He's an average route runner and he drops way too many passes for my liking. The Steelers offered him a more than fair deal last year and he turned it down. He is looking for Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson type money (according to his agent). He is delusional if he thinks he is going to be getting money like that thrown at him. I hear the Dolphins are interested in him. He would be a good fit in Miami. The Dolphins have a habit of overpaying for marginal talent. The Steelers made the right choice in signing Antonio Brown over him last year. Brown is a more complete player anyway.

With the salary cap having a floor now, a team will overpay for him. He's a great player, but he's not a team guy at all. He only cares about himself.

+1. I said the same thing. I wish we could of traded him, instead of just letting him go for nothing.
