R.I.P. Bud! You will be missed! Without you, I wouldn't have a team to root for.

He died the winningest owner in league history. It's a damn shame we couldn't win the big game for him.

The league would not be the same without him, and I don't think many people realize that.



And on a side note, I am sooooo happy Darius Reynaud is off this team. He gift-wrapped 16 points for our opponents in just 7 games. That's awful. Plus, the guy could not make a good decision when returning. He would literally make the wrong call 9 times out of 10.

Locker was pretty impressive in his first game back from injury... we'll see what we can do with an easier schedule up ahead. KC, SEA, SF was just brutal... and we came close to coming away with the KC and SEA games.

Not saying you are, or should. I'm simply saying some people just like to piss on other teams/fans in a way that makes other people think they care.

It's fair. I don't think anyone shed a tear for the Pats over the call you were complaining about either. Just like you weren't shedding a tear over Oakland losing over the "tuck rule".

And since the best available running backs are Willis McGahee and Chris Ogbonnaya, who's really more of a fullback, there is no running game to turn to.

According to Football Outsiders, Weeden is the second-worst quarterback out of all QBs that have played at least 50 snaps this season. His DYAR—Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement, used to determine the value of a player—is -237. For some context, the average Andy Dalton has a DYAR of 97.

Apparently those are old numbers, because Dalton is now at 277 and Weeden is -366. Gabbert is at -413

Josh Freeman has been diagnosed with a concussion. The ongoing saga of the Vikings quarterback mess takes another twist.

Freeman is not expected to get cleared in time for Sunday night's game against the Packers, meaning Christian Ponder will start.

Brandon Meriweather's suspension has been reduced from two games to one game. I think this was the NFL's plan all along. They probably were afraid that if they suspended him one game the arbitrator would reduce it to a fine like they did earlier this year with Dashon Goldson, so by suspending Meriweather two games they probably expected it to be cut in half.

IRVING – It would be nearly impossible for any NFL cornerback to completely shut down Detroit’s Calvin Johnson, the league’s top wide receiver.

So any time a team is facing the Lions, that team’s top corner is usually asked about trying to defend the 6-5, 235-pounder.

That job will rest on the shoulders of Brandon Carr. And somewhat surprisingly, one of Carr’s defensive teammates says Johnson should be the one concerned.

Asked Wednesday about the task Carr will be facing on Sunday, defensive tackle Jason Hatcher said, “It should be the other way around, in my book.”

“How difficult is Megatron’s job going to be? That’s what I think,” Hatcher said, “because Brandon is playing lights out. It’s going to be a battle, and I’m looking forward to it. I really appreciate what those guys do, but I’m pretty sure Megatron’s on tape right now thinking about Brandon Carr, because he is playing unbelievable. There’s not a corner playing like him right now.”

Carr defended Johnson at times in a 2011 game when the Cowboys corner was with Kansas City. Johnson had three catches for 29 yards and a touchdown as Detroit easily defeated the Chiefs 48-3.

“A big task ahead of me,” Carr said Wednesday. “But that’s what you play the game for. You play for these big games against these elite receivers.”

I like Carr a lot, but he's not THAT good. It'll be interesting to see how he matches up Sunday.

Verner actually shut down Megatron when we faced them last year, but he doesn't get any credit for it... because we went into prevent defense towards the end and Megatron got like 60 yards and a TD on that drive. So it didn't show up favorable on the stat sheet, but he did a great job on him.

Anyone remember that crazy game? We actually set an NFL record for most TDs over 60 yards in one game with 5. It was nutty. Ridiculous that it ever went into OT, but I'm glad it did because it made it that much more special.

Its official Lions vs Falcons in London Next year

The Lions are going across the pond next season.

As part of the NFL's attempt to expand its presence internationally, the Lions will play one of three games at Wembley Stadium in London in 2014.

The Lions will face the Falcons in what will count as a home game for Atlanta.

"We are excited for the opportunity to play on an international stage against a quality NFC opponent," Lions president Tom Lewand said in a statement. "It will be a different challenge for our football team; one that we fully embrace. The global platform also presents a unique and special opportunity for our fans and business partners to join us in sharing the many positive stories about the City of Detroit, the state of Michigan and the Lions."

The Lions also played at Wembley Stadium in 1993, but that 13-13 tie against the Cowboys was an exhibition game. The Lions' only other international game was an exhibition against the Boston Patriots in Montreal in 1969, a 22-9 victory.

In addition to the Lions-Falcons game in London next year, the Jaguars will play the Cowboys and the Raiders will play the Dolphins, the NFL announced Thursday morning. The NFL said the game dates will be announced later.
