I could easily see the Seahawks winning the division, but my thinking was teams often struggle the year after their first Super Bowl title. Players who were virtual nobodies get thrown in the spotlight and get inundated with media appearances. I'd like the 49ers more though if their offseason had been quieter and if they didn't have 2 players that might hold out.

The Seahawks are good, but they're not better than the Niners. They got lucky last year, and their team got worse this offseason. Their only silver lining is a healthy Percy Harvin, but that's likely to change by week 2.

As a matter of fact, I think a few or several teams did not make the playoffs the following year after winning the Super Bowl.

I think it's been 10 years in a row that the defending champion has missed the playoffs (last making the playoffs being 2004 Patriots).

Yeah, that's not correct, but it looks over the last eight years four defending champions have missed the playoffs (including the last two champs), and the other four teams failed to win a playoff game. The last defending champion to win a playoff game was the 2005 Patriots, who won in the wild card round before losing the next week in the divisional round. Outside of the Patriots third Super Bowl team no defending champion since 1999 has made it past the divisional round.

Oh right, "did not win a playoff game", that's what I heard.

This is silly. The Seahawks were a better team. Clearly. And still are.

There was a little luck in that championship game, but the Seahawks have been slaughtering the Niners in Seattle the past couple of seasons.

I think you will be quite surprised with us this season. We are going to be a very, very good football team. We are loaded with talent. The East is ours!

This probably isn't going to help former Redskins tight end Fred Davis, who is suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the substance abuse policy, get reinstated anytime soon.

Quote:
Former NFL tight end Fred Davis attacked his ex-girlfriend by throwing dirt and flowers at her ... after insulting the shape of her ass ... this according to a police report obtained by TMZ Sports.
The allegations are pretty wild -- with the ex-GF claiming she went to dinner with a male friend in D.C. on June 2nd when she was approached from behind by Davis.

The woman claims 28-year-old Davis turned to her male companion and said, "Why you with her, she doesn't have an ass."

According to the report, the woman says she went out to have a cigarette and Davis followed -- and at one point grabbed a handful of dirt and flowers from a hanging planter and THREW it at the woman's torso.

The woman claims she went inside the restaurant to grab a ketchup bottle so she could squirt Davis -- but someone stopped her before she could fire the red stuff.

Moments later, the woman claim Davis told her ... "I'm gonna slap you 'cause you fakin. Your friend looks like 2 Chainz."

The argument continued until Davis eventually left the scene.

Cops say they're looking to speak with Davis -- so far, no charges have been filed and no arrests have been made.
Davis has a ton of talent but had a poor attitude, often was late or didn't show up for meetings, and wouldn't stop smoking weed, and he'll likely never play in the NFL again.

Dude... Kiko Alonso is out for the season.

I'm not hating on the Bills one bit. I'd put them in a similar position as the Titans... if EJ improves and stays healthy, it could be a really good year for you guys. Loads of talent on offense, and your DL is stout. Prepare for a really boring scheme on defense with Schwartzy though.

What excites me the most about our team this year.... it is the first time Bud Adams is not our owner and it's the first time we have EVER had a coaching staff with no ties to the Oilers/Titans over the years. Very experienced coaching staff.

Last year's coaching staff (HC/OC/DC): Mike Munchak, Dowell Loggains, Jerry Gray

This year's coaching staff (HC/OC/DC): Ken Whisenhunt, Jason Michael, Ray Horton

Notice how all of our coaches from last season are now position coaches... that's how bad they sucked.

Jason Michael isn't exactly experienced as an OC, but Whiz is calling the plays, so it ain't a big deal.
