The Bills cut defensive tackle Alan Branch yesterday, following his DUI around 2 a.m. on Saturday morning with a blood-alcohol level of .14, 14 hours before the Bills played the Bucs. The Bills signed Branch to a contract extension in December with a signing bonus of $3.1 million and $3.975 million guaranteed, and it seemed Branch stopped caring about football after he got that deal. He skipped the Bills voluntary workouts and showed up at camp out of shape, and the DUI was the tipping point.

Surprised Dallas isn't on that list, the star has lost quite a bit of its luster since 1995 but Jerry still takes care of the players he wants to keep.

Why wouldn't you want to play for the Cowboys? You don't even have to be good to be publicly known, you get a nice fat paycheck for more than you are worth, and you get to lounge around in a state-of-the-art high tech stadium.

And unless you are the QB people won't blame you for anything bad.

He was a much better fit for Pettine's system. He didn't have much of a role in our current defense, and got buried on the depth chart by hungrier players.

That's actually the game I'm worried about the most... Road division game and you guys will be at 100%.

Definitely wouldn't surprise me if they dropped that game... but looking at their schedule after that it should be cake. Almost every tough team they play they get in NO. And they aren't losing there. They'll go undefeated at home this year.

And after watching how horrible their offense has been this preseason it just added fuel to the fire. Wouldn't be suprised if the Cowboys beat them week 1. Dallas might have a crap defense but they won't need it for that game since the 49'ers know perfectly well how to shoot themselves in the foot

Most of the poll votes were from before a single pre-season game was played you know.

And the NFL guys weren't saying they'd take a plunge back then. They were considered one of the best teams in the NFL.

Still, it's preseason. Hard to say how the actual season will play out.

Can't believe Bradford tore his ACL again. Feel terrible for him.

This stinks for the Rams. One of the worst things is even without Bradford the team is still good enough to win like 6-8 games which won't put them in position to draft a top teir QB.

That's because after 1 game and a few practices, they ripped up a section of it and laid new sod. Now they've torn it all up and are redoing the sand underneath it.

Ripped out 2500 yards of sod before the last game, and now:

The thicker-cut field installed two days before Sunday's preseason game against the San Diego Chargers was meant as a temporary solution because the sod cannot generate the deep roots needed for long-term use.

Now, team officials are also removing and making undisclosed "tweaks" to part of the sand base below the turf, and are ripping out the entire 2.5-acre playing surface, including the sidelines and the area behind the endzones, which had not previously been replaced.

It's unclear how much the new field will cost, though the original playing surface had a $1.4 million budget. The 49ers said for the first time Monday that the team will pay for the turf replacement, taking pressure off the public Santa Clara Stadium Authority, which funded the bulk of construction.
