No way it's the Bills. The NFL will want them to play a playoff team in the season opener. In addition since the NFL went to the Thursday opener in 2002 they've only had a divisional matchup once, with the Giants playing the Redskins in 2008. The last 7 openers have featured the champion playing a team from their own conference, so that would seem to make Pittsburgh the frontrunner, but it wouldn't be at all surprising if they chose Philly.

Ravens release DT Terrence Cody. He was indicted on animal cruelty charges involving a dog and an alligator. Elevator video incoming.

Good game, but I'm pissed about the way it ended. Oh well, I'm a Cowboys fan so I'm used to disappointment. They said that Chris Matthews' nickname is Hardball because of the MSNBC host of the same name. In that line of thinking I prefer to call him Tingles.

I definitely agree! He's one of the reasons I stopped watching the show a few years ago. Now I just hope he goes away, for good.

Maybe he would have...if it weren't for the fact that the ending was ungodly rigged! Seriously, how come no one is even suggesting that around here in the forums? I know it's old news now, but honestly...WHY? I live in Ohio. I don't care emotionally about either team really, but that was bad. Really bad.

Like no logical sense at all.

If that was rigged, the NFL players and coaches are the best actors on this planet.

Gayle Sayers was signing autographs at a store inside the Mirage yesterday. The prices weren't bad, $79 for an 8x10 photo or $129 for a football (either a regular NFL ball or a ball with the Bears logo) which the store provided. You also got to shake his hand, talk with him, and get pictures taken with him. I'm not a Bears fan so I didn't get any autographs but it was still cool to be in the presence of a Hall of Fame running back.

This store mainly consisted of signed, framed pictures of athletes, musicians, and actors. The most interesting thing they had though was every US presidents picture and autograph, from Washington to Obama. It was a massive thing that was 2 framed displays that were probably each 4' by 7'. It costs $200,000.

Of course it was real. Who am I kidding? I'm sorry! NFL would never be rigged. It's not like (hundreds of) millions and millions of dollars exchange hands with bets, mob situations, marketability with reputations of the team or teams they want in there.

It only takes 1 to rig and ruin a game. ONE person. Everyone else involved in the game could be absolutely devastated and upset with an outcome, but it's irrelevant that it's 100% real to their eyes and to their lives if simply one person is paid off to wreck it all.

I've said that it's rigged before... and in some ways I do believe that.

So you're saying that Pete Carroll made a last second deal with Goodell at the 1 yard line to throw a pick? Or he had a pre-arrangement with Malcolm Butler to throw a pick to him in the last seconds of the game?

At least explain how it's rigged if that's what you believe.

I read that Pete Carroll, in the UT v. USC national championship game, BENCHED National-rushing leader Reggie Bush on a 4th & 1 and called a pass play that went incomplete...opening the door to Vince Young coming back to win the game

eeeek

Uhh... It was a run that got stuffed, not a pass play. I thought that was common knowledge, but maybe that's because I was actively watching that awesome game since I knew we'd likely end up with VY (or possibly Bush).

It made sense to give it to LenDale on a 4th & 1 situation... The problem was that Bush just wasn't on the field. Probably should've had both LenDale and Reggie in there to throw off the defense.

That call was nowhere near as bad as the one on Sunday.
