It's always been allowed. I'm fairly sure anyone can attempt a punt. Hell, in the old days the QB sometimes doubled as the team punter.

Tebow: Why hast my lord forsaken me????

I am not a Pats fan, but I enjoyed seeing them expose Tebow as a fraud. I have no problem with his religion, but he is NOT a NFL QB.

Overrated? Definitely. But I think saying he's not an NFL QB is an exaggeration. There's quite a few starters whom I'd take Tebow over right now. I'll bet he remains a starter either in Denver or somewhere else for quite a few years, even if he's not an especially good one.

This Tebow hate is ridiculous and also why a lot of people will stand up for him.

Tebow just started the 16th game of his career. People are just impatient and want to see instant improvement. If he is still as inconsistent and shows no improvement in his 3rd year or so then yeah, he doesn't belong and I'll agree with you.

Guys like Alex Smith has shown nothing but bust for 7 years and hasn't received nearly the amount of criticism Tebow has.

What he's done this season has been pretty good and he'll improve next year.

Maybe hate is a little strong, but as Jesus told him in the hilarious SNL sketch,"Lay off the Jesus thing a little bit"

Also how many other rookie'ish' starting NFL QBs have we seen with a percent completions stat as low as his. Its evolved to a passing league. Tebow caught some teams off guard. He is a one read QB. After a few games of tape that other teams got to see, it did not take too long to break the mystique of his 'willing the team to win'

I think Tebow maybe a NFL player but he is not a QB. He should try out for WR or TE.

Hats off to the Niners today for shutting down an overconfident team.

Brees is NOT the MVP.

MVP is a regular season award. Today's games don't even matter in that respect. Of course Rodgers is going to be named MVP anyway.

I know it's for regular season, but Brees was responsible for 2 their TOs. Brees is starting to channel Favre. He thinks he can throw it anywhere against anyone.

Ponder and Gabbert had some awful completion percentages as well. All of the young QB's have a lot of work to do, Cam Newton included

Tebow's was lower yet he managed to win games instead of losing because he didn't turn the ball over as much and made enough big plays. Until he shows that he can't improve any more, he'll continue to be the starter. This calling for him to go so early in his career is unwarranted.

Sam Bradford had a pretty pathetic season as well, 6TD:6INT 53.5 comp % and no1 is calling for his head

Unfortunately for Tebow and his career, this media manufactured Tebowmania could cut his career short, but it won't because he's not the type of person that backs down

Rodgers: MVP
Brees: Offensive player of the year

In the SF Bay Area Smith has received a crazy amount of hate from fans. I don't hate Tebow but I do hate all the religious miracle BS that's been going along with him. The guy takes a crap in the toilet bowl and holy water splashes up. Nothing against him personally.

Come on people, lets try and stay off the religious stuff like Macruz said last week. Believe me, I don't disagree with anything you say, this just isn't the place for it. Though I do know it's hard given how hard it can be to separate Tebow's on field play from his personal life given hour outspoken he is on some matters.

Do you even watch football? Although Alex Smith hasn't lived up to number one overall pick standards, he is hardly a "bust for 7 years." His first season as a starter, he had nearly 3,000 yards and close to 60.0% completion percentage. He was having a HORRIBLE 07 campaign, up to the point that he got injured. But ever since he came back from injury, he has stayed over 60.0% completion % and over 80.0 QB rating.

The fact remains that Tebow still hasn't proved that he is a NFL quarterback. Yes, the Broncos have managed to find, albeit unorthodox, ways to squeeze out wins. Aside from the injury riddled Steelers, they failed to beat a single +.500 team. The Tebow stans like yourself can continue to blindly praise him.

Tim Tebow completed just 9-of-26 passes for 136 yards and added five rushes for 13 yards in the Broncos' Divisional round of the playoffs.
Bill Belichick had two weeks to prepare a remedy for the Broncos' afraid-to-throw option offense, and the results were ugly for Tebow. By three minutes into the second half, Tom Brady had twice as many touchdowns as Denver completions. Although Tebow was far from the only culprit -- his receivers dropped a handful of passes -- his 34.6 completion percentage is the lowest on 20+ attempts in a playoff game in 14 years. He was tackled behind the line of scrimmage at least a dozen times. The Denver Post has confirmed that Tebow is locked in as the opening-day starter for 2012, but he'll have a short leash if he doesn't show significant improvement as a passer.

Really... Anyway! Jim Harbaugh wouldn't have gotten to an NFC championship game had he say gone to the fins, Raiders, or Washington, he's done a great job don't get me wrong, but this wasn't an awful place to go coach.

Alex Smith has been the QB this long because they've been patient with him and they couldn't get anyone better. Up until this season, he had more picks than touchdowns.

Yet people are throwing Tebow under the bus after just 16 games. Let him play a full season or two and see if he can improve before ruling him out.

How has the team shown being overconfident? You play expecting to win the game, unless they came out and guaranteed a win Namath style there was no overconfidence shown.

And he still brought the team back for the lead with a minute and a half to go. I don't understand the channeling favre comment at all. He didn't throw a pick in the final seconds to lose the game. The first pick was a great disguise in coverage and the safety made a great play on the ball, the second was a deep pass attempt that you can for sure blame on him. I don't see how anyone can turn on Brees after this game, the only one to blame is the defensive coordinator on the last two drives. All game no drive allowed over 54 yards, last two 80 & 85 at the most crucial time.

And Brees DID have a MVP caliber season there is no questioning that, but Rodgers does deserve it.

.... Who Dat
