Default Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight" (USE SPOILER TAGS)

Quote:
Quentin Tarantino fans, rejoice: The director announced at Comic-Con that post-Civil War film “The Hateful Eight” is still happening.

“The Hateful Eight” has had a colorful life so far. Back in January, pages from the screenplay had leaked, and Gawker posted a story pointing to them. Tarantino filed a lawsuit against the media outlet (which was later dismissed, then refiled, then withdrawn) and declared that the western would not be his next film.

In April, however, he announced to a crowd at a reading of the “Hateful Eight” script that he was working on a second draft, with a third to come.

On Sunday at Comic-Con, a fan directly asked him at a panel if he was actually continuing with the once-scrapped project. According to Collider, after a pause, he answered, “Yeah — We’re going to be doing ‘The Hateful Eight.'”

At the time of the leak, the director said he gave the script out to only six people and was “very, very depressed.”

“I give it out to six people and if I can’t trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it,” he said.

If “Hateful Eight” is indeed Tarantino’s next project, it will follow “Django Unchained,” his 2012 western hit that nabbed two Academy Awards.

I'm surprised that he's developing back-to-back westerns, but as always with Tarantino, I'm intrigued and ready.

I didn't care for Django so hopefully this western appeals more to me. I think he could handle the genre well.

I'd be interested in his movie of a western(my fav. genre btw ), if he would do it along the same way as The Man with No Name Trilogy!

I did not care for Django Unchained (I did not think it was very well made for a so-called western), even returned both of my Target copies at the time!!(was a blind buy at that time).

Django Unchained is my second favorite Tarantino film behind Kill Bill.

And most of QT's filmography has elements of spaghetti westerns.

My dad is a big fan of Westerns and absolutely adored Django, so we'll see how this one turns out. Considering it's Tarantino, we'll get to Christmas and he'll be rambling on about something else entirely.

Hell yeah. I think Inglourious Basterds is the most intelligent script and film he's made, but Django Unchained and Kill Bill are the epitome of what Tarantino is all about. At least for me.

I honestly don't take anything he says at face value. If you've followed this guy AT ALL throughout his career, you know he constantly talks about projects (both films and other stuff) that never materialize. So I always wait until one of QT's movies is finished and in the can before believing for sure what it's going to be.

Yeah, Django Unchained and Kill Bill are so much fun for me to watch. Plus I love the characters. My problem with Inglourious Basterds is that I didn't find anyone in that film sympathetic. That opening scene is one of the greatest sequences in cinema, however, and Christoph Waltz really earned his Oscar.

It's funny how most of his films are shot in a very spaghetti western like style, especially Inglourious Basterds and Kill Bill. Yet Django Unchained was lacking this style big time. Maybe he'll include it this time around...

Regardless of how the film ends up turning out, count me in. I expect nothing short of another masterpiece from him!
I just hope it won´t be bad as Django. Django first 1hr was great but after that another 1hr and 30 min was so boring... talk talk and talk... and nothing really happened(i did love shooting scenes and all this blood, he did this right) but he makes movies too long and unfunny.
I hope new movie is better.

I thought Django Unchained was hilarious and QT is renowned for his dialogue, with occasional bursts of violence (some movies have more of it than others). So maybe you're just not a Tarantino fan?

I hope it's good -- I'm a big fan of Westerns, and I was disappointed in Django Unchained precisely because it seemed to lack completely awareness and love for the Western genre. I'm hoping the next one is more in keeping with a Western, maybe like the Coen Brothers' True Grit.

There was too much of a mixture of silliness, absurdity, and brutality porn in Django Unchained.

Agreed. It was disjointing seeing a movie with some of the attempted trappings (music, etc.) but without the visual style.
