Just now seeing this news about the 4K release. What a crock. Target's return policy is 90 days unopened, correct? My original VHS copy is still in the shrinkwrap.

That art is atrociously generic.

How cheap can you be, if you have to rent it on Redbox? It’s still on Netflix.

Isn't it though. Thought the same thing. Perhaps Redbox didn't have the rights to use more official looking cover art. Beats me. Cool that it's available to rent though per those that would prefer not to blind buy this or subscribe to Netflix streaming just to check it out. Could think of worse things to spend $4 on. :-P

Try stepping out of your bubble. The fact it only cost $4 to rent the discs has nothing to do with someone being cheap. Not everyone has a Netflix streaming subscription. Not everyone wants to sign up for a Netflix streaming subscription. Not everyone has an Internet connection at home that is suitable for streaming. Some may have a Netflix streaming subscription, have already streamed the TV show, but would like to re-watch it on Blu-ray, but aren't interested or ready to purchase the TV show on Blu-ray for one reason or another. Not everyone that watches Blu-ray's are collectors. I know some people that just rent and don't collect. Here's another one. Some may have a Netflix streaming subscription, but only stream content that's not available on Blu-ray, because the Blu-ray provides a better quality audio/video experience. I know several that fit that category including myself.

Redbox has been doing this for at least a decade...creating their own ridiculously generic box art for some mystifying reason. Then again, I haven't used a Redbox machine since I first got Netflix about eight years ago.

Interesting. I hadn't really noticed. I certainly did with this title though.

I'm a Netflix disc rental subscriber as well. I have been since day one prior to streaming even becoming a thing. Their disc rentals in addition to collecting DVD's and Blu-ray's has been my way of unplugging from broadcast television with respects to TV shows and movies. If it's not available on DVD or Blu-ray I just do without. That being said, I do hit up the Redbox now and then. Mostly when new games come out. I rented "Star Wars Battlefront 2" yesterday. Returned it today. Got a kick out of seeing "Stranger Things" available to rent. Couldn't resist taking a couple pics. I have some friends that live down the street from me. They don't subscribe to the Netflix disc rental or streaming services. They're just not home enough to make it worth it. They don't collect Blu-ray's either, but do rent new releases on Blu-ray from Redbox. They were pretty stoked when I let them know strange things were happening at our Redbox down the street. Pretty cool if you ask me. Rarely see TV shows on Blu-ray available to rent at Redbox. I like it!

This.

It's only exclusive to buy from Target. Redbox shouldn't even be renting it in the first place.

Question

I know Target is going to blow out the BD / DVD combo for $10 on BF. Anyone know of any sale plans for the UHD / BD combo?

How do you know Redbox didn't have a deal in place with Netflix?

30 days on media items. Unless it falls into the holiday extended period.
From their website: "All electronics and entertainment items must be returned within 30 days for a refund or exchange. For these items purchased between 11/1 – 12/25, the 30-day refund period will start on 12/26. "

The current generation is THE spoiled generation. Can't really blame them too much though because it's all they know. They didn't get to experience awesome times like the 60s-90s. Kind of feel bad for the people of today. If i could escape this current generation and go back to any of those periods i wouldn't even hesitate my first choice being 80s/90s. Heck, not even limiting it to 60s-90s i'd prefer many periods over this current one. Being thrown into a world of dinosaurs doesn't sound so bad after reading an hour of social media.

What's the deal with this? Anyone know if it will be on sale online for Black Friday at some point? Right now you can't even order the DVD/Blu copy of it at the regular price, only the 4K version.

Will this show ever get special features? Netflix has the money for them!
