Hell, Vinegar Syndrome is selling an empty box for $20. With the movies, it goes up to $90. Plus shipping.

I hope that's the case! I chose regular shipping for mine because there's an Amazon Fulfillment Center in my town so once they ship it out it arrives in two days anyway lol.

There are SO many LDs and DVDs that have never re-released their bonus features and/or commentaries.

Some frightening news. Earlier this morning there was a knock at the door; it was a Sony executive. He had a gun. He proceeded to push himself inside box in tow. It was the Ghostbusters set. Gun to my forehead he bellows "$100! NOW!" I tried bargaining with him as the last of my savings is all I had. He wouldn't take no for an answer.

Here I sit, still shaking. I have the Ghostbusters set but never imagined I'd be forced into buying it with my last hundred dollars. These publishers are going crazy.

The last time the Ghostbusters movies were released in a limited version (the steelbook) the extras weren’t re-released. Sony actually kept older discs in-print rather than releasing the steelbook discs individually.

But now those extras have been re-released, in THIS limited edition.

You....do know that there's like discs and stuff inside it? I'm not going to lie: I would've paid £76 for this with or without that stoopid ghost trap packaging. That is literally the very last concern on the list. I'm more interested in the book reprint, bonus discs with plenty of newly unearthed features and Dobly encodes of all three movies. I said before it wasn't exactly a billy bargain, but nor is it some astonishing rip-off considering what's actually IN the package.

I happily pay £25 a movie for indie-style treatment with stellar encodes and lots of tat, more than that even as they've been running to £35-£40 lately, so £76 for such treatment of three movies (in a franchise that I've loved for as long as I can remember of my 41 years on this planet) is worth every penny to me.

This is exactly my thinking. I’ll probably save the packaging but just put the films in their slips on my movie shelf. Thankfully all of the slips are beautiful, as the only thing I hate is that inner art for Afterlife. Worst physical media art for a tentpole in years IMO. The Blu-ray art is the original poster, too, just to make it sting a bit more.

There's something to be said about the content, quality and rarity of any item you buy when it comes to physical movie collecting (none of the Ghostbusters movies are hard to find on any other format, these movies aren't exclusive to this set alone, nobody really cares about there being lights in the trap-shaped packaging, etc etc). But with the way this franchise was redeemed in Afterlife, and how this set kinda apologizes for the 2016 movie's awfulness by not including it, I think Ghostbuster fans in general are/should be very happy to pay $100 for both what Sony did and didn't do with this set.

For me, I want Sony to recognize my appreciation of the choices they made with Afterlife and how this set only focuses on three movies. I want Sony to see how releasing Afterlife and ignoring 2016's monstrosity is the right decision so that they can believe there are future gains to be made if they continue with this franchise along the same narrative path of the original movies. And really, I just wanna say "thank you" with my wallet by supporting this set because it honors the original 2 movies versus even acknowledging the nonsense they tried with 2016.

So, $100 is a steep price for an old set of movies that come in a box with a light that isn't all that wanted or needed. But we do get 3 great movies in a pretty neat package that didn't skimp on a lot of good extras being included. And if you honestly ask yourself, how many other franchises would give you this kind of love and attention with their own home release special edition set for a reasonable price? And how many other franchises would ignore their screw ups instead of forcing you to buy the movies you hated along with the ones you wanted in some (even more) overpriced set?

I think Sony earned the right to make good sales on this set based on their recent franchise choices, and I hope other Ghostbuser fans do, too =)

You can still get it from B&N but you'll be paying a premium for it at $150.

This set is so cool - most fun I’ve had unboxing for a while. I won’t spoil for people who haven’t pulled the movies out, but it’s a good time lol
