Yeah I think it makes the most sense as Sony will no doubt do something for the 40th anniversary and with the movie out this year they could just do a new box set with it instead of just reissuing the old collection again.

There's no sense in buying an Ultimate set now with that botched original sound mix that didn't get fixed.

Are there any release that have a correct original sound mix in lossless quality?

Remuxing the best audio and video have become a fun hobby of mine.

On the other hand if its the Dolby Vision presentation you want and don't care about the issues with the original sound mix then no reason not to pick it up, I watched it at the weekend with the Atmos track and was perfectly satisfied.

If they never fix the soundtrack and reissue discs I'll just pull the Blu audio and pair it with the 4k. Already in sync so little work required. Still a hoop to jump through but better than nothing!

DV is better but if your setup tonemaps well then the HDR10 disc looks amazing. I'd get it for cheap and stop stressin'.

I already had the regular 4k set and sold it off but missed out on the DV discs anyway. No stress waiting to upgrade, or jump thru a lil hoop for audio that's not botched!

The standard Blu-rays for G1 & G2 that were included in the older steelbook set and the limited deluxe edition should. Both have 2.0 stereo tracks that are correct technically (i.e. they unfold to 4-channel without the phasing issue).

That's what is so annoying about the glitch on the UHD discs. I would assume the 2.0 came from the same source, so I'm not sure how it could have gotten bungled so badly for the UHD.

Also, I guess it's possible that the 2.0 tracks could be downmixes of the 5.1s, but those 5.1s were never all that revisionist, so I'm not really sure.

Yep, as far as Atmos remixes go I've got no issues with them which is why I'm not so bummed about the botched 2.0 mixes on the UCE UHDs. I should be outraged but as the remixes are so tastefully done then I can live with it. Though IF Sony issued another UCE set with Frozen Empire (and, god willing, GB2016 with the theatrical cut and DV) and put fixed discs in there then I'd rebuy it all over again.

I'll keep my UCE for now.

While I really like the inclusion of OG audio, I'm fine with remixes as long as they are well done (not rare or medium). ;-)

Again though, if you have the UCE (the ghost trap set), then you have the original audio tracks (or something very closely resembling them) on the included standard BDs.
