Apparently it's not the same disc as that of the US set though, it only has the Atmos track and the Japanese dub so not worth it IMO, unless the specs are wrong. Would be great if someone who owns the Japanese set could confirm.
I just imported the 4K Japanese trilogy set from Amazon Japan (to Canada, came pretty quickly by DHL Express this week). I haven't checked all of the discs yet but the first Ghostbusters is in Dolby Vision and the 3 English audio options are Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD 5.1 and DTS-HD 2.0. I don't know if there's a way to tell if the 2.0 track is an original mix or if it's a downmix of the 5.1 track (as I know some other unrelated movies in the past have done this [I think Psycho being one of them], I remember reading the backlash online). So far I'm happy with it as I didn't want to wait any longer to see if the Dolby Vision discs for the first two movies get re-released in North America or not.

It should be the same disc as the US and European ones. The 2.0 mixes are legit, not downmixes. They have a mastering error though; phase is reversed.

I think that Karate Kid release will have Ghostbusters follow, then Sony will do the sequels. Watch for the ghost corrected 2.0

Yeah my Starship Troopers UHD (original release) is the same— it’s definitely pushed too hard on the brightness levels, which tends to exacerbate the grain field. The old original Ghostbusters Blu-ray was like that too because it was from an HD master that had originally boosted the contrast way too high, which blew out a lot of highlight detail and made certain scenes look overly grainy (the Mastered in 4K Blu-ray fixed this, but I have yet to see the actual 4k HDR transfer of Ghostbusters.)

Still, I’m glad Sony didn’t attempt to blast away the grain with DNR to compensate, they seem to stay pretty hands off with that stuff.

I can't stand those light cannon UHDs, they irritate my eyes making me not want to watch the film. Does anyone know if Leon was one of those discs?

It was, iirc.

The only ones I remember being too bright for me personally were Starship Troopers and The Dark Tower, but they used brighter than average settings for a lot of their releases for like 2-3 years. I kinda dug it most of the time tbh but some of them were just insane.

That's great news. The listing needs to be updated then.

Are there other audio tracks besides English and Japanese? I'm curious whether it's the same disc as the US one.

Leon's one of Sony's tamer efforts, ironically enough it's the StudioCanal UHD that's much brighter.

and then we have a bunch of folks at a different forum who complain even 1000 nits full field is not bright enough and also complaining HDR movies looking too dark with windows and curtains opened in broad daylight.

I can't understand those complaints, if I'm sitting close enough to my screen to take in all the detail I'm paying to see, 1k nits flat is even unpleasant in high doses. Sitting 15 feet away in a living room with 12 windows open complaining about not seeing the image, I wonder why that is, no one going to pull that running a projector setup, but an OLED should be bright enough... those same types will call a disc like BR2049 bad when it isn't. That's why the nit race is all marketing, as usual, no different than chasing CPU specs back in the day.

There are people who think BR2049 is a bad disc?

£73 delivered for the Japanese set. Very tempted with that, or do I just wait for the inevitable set with the 4 movies……

The Amazon version of the set includes a DVD bonus disc though containing the following extras (related to Afterlife):

-"The Ties That Bind: A Conversation with Jason & Ivan Reitman" (6:57)
-"Return of the Terror Dogs" featurette (4:56)
-"Ghostbusters: Afterlife" Japanese Trailers (7:52)

The disc can also be found for the Amazon exclusive of Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
