I agree, i always loved GB 2 since i saw the movie in theaters on my 8th birthday and enjoyed it as much as the original as it's a fun sequel that does have a great villain and some fun sequences and i will defend it.

Alot better than Stinkbusters 2016 (i'm not calling that movie Ghostbusters as it doesn't deserve to be called Ghostbusters).

This will be a re-release of the 2016 4K UHD discs, with updated standard Blu-ray discs, and the bulk of the new stuff on a new bonus Blu-ray disc. That would make this a five-disc Steelbook set:

Disc 1 - GB1 4K
Disc 2 - GB2 4K
Disc 3 - GB1 Blu
Disc 4 - GB2 Blu
Disc 5 - Bonus Blu Disc

sure a film that uses the animated Ghostbusters logo, costumes, theme music, general concepts, is exec produced by Ivan Reitman, released by Sony/Columbia, has scenes mirorring the original, ghosts, cameos from the OC, Slimer, merchandising, has a continued licensed comic series crossoving over with other incarnations of the Ghostbusters franchise

...that CAN’T be a Ghostbusters film because I don’t like it!

Grow up. I don’t like Ghostbusters II especially much (maybe the 4K UHD steelbook will change that!) but I don’t call it Stinkbusters or not worthy of being Ghostbusters because I don’t like it. Every franchise will one day produce an installment (or several) that many people don’t like.

I know of 3 disc steelbooks, wonder how 5 will work within the case? 1 disc on the left, a plastic hinged middle with two more disks, and the final 2 discs on the right side of the case - or a variation on this? Already sold on my copy of the Blus in preparation for this!

I realize this is an old post and odd post to signal out, but I just wanted to say thank you. Your post does a fairly good summing up how I've been feeling lately. I suffer from excruciating anxiety and depression badly. It has flared up horribly the last few days and has it made it hard for me to enjoy the things I used to in life. Like you said though, sometimes new formats, equipment, and what not have helped sparked the flames again. That's true with me and music when I got into vinyl. It's even more true with the 4K UHD format and my newish TV.

Just watched this and, oh, the movie is still an absolute joy. Honest to God I keep finding new things, new reactions every time I see it, the joy of widescreen is that your attention can only go on certain people at any given time, whenever I revisit a movie like this I sometimes concentrate on what's going on behind or to the sides of the main actors. This example is something I've loved for a while: watch Bill Murray's reaction when the mayor playfully slaps the cheek of the Archbishop ("we're in a real fix, Mike").

The UHD holds up fantastically well, albeit with the contrast lowered to counteract the mega Sony brightness (MaxCLL 9633 nits, MaxFALL 2273). As a nod to Andreas' recent issues with it I'll say that the texture can indeed look a fraction electronic at times, I don't mean compression as such but the underlying handling of the grain itself, and yet nit-picky ol' me still loved it. Call it a 'bias', call it being contrary for the sake of it, whatever: overall it looked fine...and y'all know I wouldn't say that if I didn't actually mean it.

ghostbusters 2 has a lot of deleted scenes that aren't being include in this release involving eugene levy why aren't they treating ghostbusters 2 right?

What is the difference between the remastered blu-ray and the UHD. I don't have Ghostbusters yet in any format and I want to buy it. What's your recomendation (99% UHD are the best option to watch a movie with very few exceptions when the blu is better, for example Goodfellas or Apollo 13 maybe and I want to know if Ghostbusters are on this list too)

The remastered BD looks excellent but the UHD is a nice little step up again, displaying every last bit of resolution and a lot more grain.

I think the look of the grain in this UHD is really just the bright HDR mastering exacerbating all the grain that was in the OCN scan. I don't think it has any "more" grain than the BD, just Sony's mastering making the grain look rougher than perhaps it should.

I didn't say the underlying grain wasn't 'there' all along on the original elements (5294 being what it was), but the BD's incredibly 'clean' in comparison to the UHD, particularly in motion, so whichever semantic way you want to couch it the UHD really does look a lot grainier than the BD IMO.

I don't have 4K yet, but with the upgraded Blu-rays and new bonus features, I'm definitely picking this up.

You could ask Paul Rudoff over at Spook Central who was consulted by Sony in the making of this 35th Anniversary set as to what the fans would want.

Thanks for the link. (If it does come with a bonus disc then that's another indication re: Black Hawk Down getting a newly pressed BD just to include the legacy extra features, no matter that they're all in SD or whatever.)
