Looks like they held a contest to let an 11 year old with Photoshop create the artwork.

UHD Blu-ray comes at the worst possible time for home video departments. Studios have slashed their budgets and many of the veterans who had some inkling of quality and marketing savvy have been axed.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know the BD cases with a simple Ghostbuster logo look worlds better than those abominations.

They don't know that. This is the problem.

It's a BOX. Watch the movie, not the package.

I have over 700 BDs on my shelf, you see the spine and that's it.

There are people that appreciate the artwork and don't want some cheesy, awfulness on display. That is a big reason I enjoy purchasing steelbooks. They look awesome and are nice to show off if you want to.

I have yet to meet a person (read: woman) who was impressed by a steelbook.

My guests are impressed by my A/V setup and the movies I demo. Not the boxes my discs come in.

I am not saying it is to impress other people just saying it is a personal preference. Some people just personally appreciate the artwork.

Also if "showing off to guests" is a motivating factor then I suppose it would just depend on the steelbook. Like for example if I had a friend over who loved Guardians of the Galaxy I am sure he would get a kick out of seeing my steelbook of it.

I think the problem is they think other ignoramuses will confuse the UHD with the Ghostbusters 2016 release, so they need to slap the "guys" on there not to confuse the general popcorn indulging public and bargain-bin BD shoppers... you know, those simpletons with standard BD, and probably DVD entertainment systems.

That artwork is hideous, if I ever got the UHD I would put it in the digibook the BDs came in.

Can't wait for the reviews of this. It's the classics like this that attract me to 4K more than anything.

Dabnis: I'm sorry...
Cliff: Well, no no no no, it's not for you to be sorry because, see, you are not to blame. See, if you want to blame anybody, blame Vanessa. What I'm trying to say is, I don't want you to leave this house saying that we don't like you because you are a maintenance man, or in charge of maintenance, or whatever. I mean, you could right now, sitting there, be a banker and we would not like you AT ALL.
(Dabnis and Vanessa look crestfallen)
Cliff: It's the way that...you have a favorite food?
Dabnis: Yes, sir, what you had here was fine. I especially enjoyed the fish sticks.
Cliff: No, forget the fish sticks. Do you have a favorite food, something you really LOVE?
Dabnis: Oh yeah, on occasion, I enjoy a nice, juicy steak.
Cliff: Steak! Steak, there you go! You got a steak. Just imagine you got a porterhouse and no white lines in it at all. Now, what would you like to go along with it?
Dabnis: Uh, some crispy potatoes!
Cliff: No problem! Now, you got mushrooms, you like your mushrooms.
Dabnis: Yes, sir.
Cliff: You can smell it, can't you? Smell the potatoes?
Dabnis: Yes, sir!
Cliff: Smell the mushrooms!
Dabnis: Yes, sir!
Cliff: Sauteed!
Dabnis: Yes, sir!
Cliff: MMM, boy! Huh?
Dabnis: Yes, sir!
Cliff: All right, now, I'm going to present it to you, right? I go over now...I don't get a plate, I take the garbage can lid, and I turn it upside down! After taking it off the garbage can, I take your steak, your potatoes, your sauteed mushrooms, and I give it to you! Not too appetizing, is it? It's in the presentation. THAT'S how she brought you over here, "on a garbage can lid"!
I know some people who only watch a movie once.

Some people re-watch multiple movies many times over the years. They are movie collectors. They are the type of people who might have purchased a movie on DVD, then Blu-ray, and might eventually purchase said title on UHD.

While the UHD is most likely a superior A/V presentation, Sony is trying to convince people, some of whom have probably purchased this film on DVD, Blu-ray, or both, to once again upgrade at a premium price.

"Ghostbusters" has probably made Sony quite a bit of money over the years, so they should take pride in it and want to present the UHD release as a PREMIUM collectors item. It does not look like a PREMIUM collector's item... it looks like a fifth-grader did a Photoshop job for a book report about his favorite movie.

It's the presentation...

I really like the slipcovers/artwork for the two Ghostbusters releases. Not that it matters in the end if i will purchase it or not, but they are pretty nice. Maybe I just like that they are so different than the previous releases' artworks.
