Sure. I ain't saying ignore the guy. However if he tells me something wasn't sharpened and I can see it was obviously sharpened I'm going to trust my eyes, ya know? I wish I could remember specific examples but I can't.

To those who are purchasing/made the purchase, how much will it cost me to buy your 3D Blu-ray from this set?

When viewing this on a regular 1080p set, will I still be able to watch it in 60FPS? I haven't upgraded my TV yet, but I do have my Xbox One S that plays my UHD discs. I mean, games run at 1080P and 60FPS on the TV, so in theory it could work, right? Or will it just downsample the image to 24 FPS?

I've got a lot of time for RAH and I always will, but his reviews these days basically consist of a history lesson and a thumbs up/down at the end which is fine for the unadulterated worship he receives at HTF but I can understand why people who want a bit more tech info about the actual UHD presentation itself are frustrated with his approach, especially with his increasingly sarcastic tone these days. I love my sarcasm, believe me, but when people are just trying to aks him honest questions it also adds to the frustration factor.

It'd be nice to extricate him from the forums environment and get info from him via other methods, as when he wants to he can go into detail that makes Geoff go all weak at the knees e.g. the interview he did about the MFL restoration, but more often than not his actual reviews are pretty darned lightweight.

At least theatrically, in 4K HFR the 3D version was solid was some truly striking shots of depth (pretty light on pop outs, though there are a few). Don't know how it will translate into a 24 fps 3D blu, but I'd imagine pretty well even if some of the crispness I saw theatrically is naturally gone.

The theatrical 3D version was only 2k, I believe.

It played at Lincoln Square (where I saw it) and Arclight Dome in 4k/3D/120 fps, which required special custom projectors. The standard wide 2D/24 version was released only in 2K though I think.

Correct, the regular DCP was just 2K with the 120 4K 3D restricted to very limited engagements and the 60 2K 3D never even saw the light of day, so whatever one thinks of the film this is a unique opportunity to see 4K + 60fps HFR in action.

When I saw it at the Dome, Ang Lee did a Q&A afterward, and the moderator was really really mean about his use of the technology. I wasn't blown away by the movie, but you have to respect his work when he's sitting next to you. She asked "Does it bother you that practically no one will see this movie the way you shot it?" and "Now that it wasn't well-received, does that affect your feelings about the decision?" It was awkward.

It'll be the same with the UK one, I saw a cinema review for it in one newspaper today!

Perfect 100 score from Ralph Potts. Also, Chris from Home Theater Reference also tonight said this is the #1 PQ reference now by a mile but he hated the HFR.

HFR not for everyone, no surprise there, although you should really watch it several times (not talking about this specifically) to get used to it
