Probably more for sports broadcast. 60fps for blu ray would help though.

Boy, I sure hope HFR isn't the future.

I loved the HFR 3D on The Hobbit, makes the imagery a lot clearer and sharper. I'm not saying I want every movie done that way, but for certain types of big movies and in the hands of the right director, it could really be something special.

I really don't understand that. European TVs can display NTSC content since the 90s. Even mid-range VCRs could play PAL and NTSC VHS tapes.

Now it's 2017 and UK shows still have to be converted for the US market. Most of the displays are made in China anyway so it's probably just a firmware thing. (I know it is for Panasonic Blu-ray players.)

I read an article once on why US TVs remove PAL compatibility most of the time but I don't remember the reasons. It's not money though. In any event yes it is ridiculous.

The only rational reason I can fathom is to prevent "cheap" european DVDs from undercutting prices in the U.S. market, a sort of region barrier. And then probably a lot of "We always did it this way".

Looks like Bill Hunt will be posting a review on this tomorrow. Other reviews should start coming out soon since release day is now only 8 days away.

The Digital Bits. No doubt this is going to be THE best looking UHD disc for a while.

I certainly hope so. There have been more misses than hits in my opinion with these UHD discs. I'm hoping this movie looks sensational.

I certainly wouldn't say more misses than hits, but yes, better consistency would be nice.

Why would they fail? If you have the ones that are certified for 4K/HDR you should be good, right?

Yes, but most people don't have 4k certified cables. It's also possible thag companies many years ago were selling crappy cables labeled as 18g when they actually werent. But the moral is, this movie requires the absolute best cables to not have issues with 4k 60 HDR

Am I safe in assuming these cables that I ordered from Amazon are gonna work?

Just watched the UHD disc and it's probably the prettiest film in my collection. I caught it in theaters in standard frame rate and it was the most crisp I've ever seen a film. That said, this 60fps Blu is mind-blowing. Glad to have one of my favorite pictures of 2016 in this format. Bless you, And Lee.
