Sitting here hoping tomorrow goes well at work. I’m working straight until Sunday and dragging ass already despite not having a day off. I’m also wondering if my boss is going to back paddle on making me ASM once the current one moves up or on. Given we shook on a dollar more than I’m being paid and he recanted and the stories I’ve heard I wouldn’t be surprised.
He was on me about a project he put me on last week not being complete yesterday and I had to bite my tongue a bit. I basically told him it is hard to focus in on a single job when I’m focused on the customers, store and associates needs. Which takes precedence over a reset he could have had finished by someone on the day crew. Especially when all I have is 3 people, 4 when I’m closing with the other lead. |

Getting extra hours at work is nice but I hate the way they go about it. Because we don't get traditional weekends/consecutive days off, occasionally I end up working 7-9 days without a single day off. Then they'll give me one day off and not two at a time. This is what they're doing the week before Thanksgiving and it sucks. I'm starting to think I should update my availability to give myself the two days off that I prefer to have.
Feels like I come home at 10 PM and eat dinner, pass out by midnight and sleep until 10 AM. Wake up and eat, nap until work and I'm back at it again. I'm too tired to do anything besides work and it is driving me absolutely insane, mostly due to the inconsistent hours. |

I'd HATE not having Saturday and Sunday off. Or two consecutive days off but I prefer a traditional weekend. It would seriously mess with my head, not to mention working a long stretch with only one day off would suck ass. I'm lucky I got in on the old-school Monday through Friday 9 to 5 thing before everything went to shit

Yeah, having weekends off don’t bother me as much as not having the back to backs. He could schedule me off on Tuesday-Wednesday, but then he wouldn’t have an extra person working freight or to close the store. I definitely felt bad for the ASM on Monday night. He closed with me and then had to open the next morning. Luckily doe the SM I looked at the schedule app or they would have been short a closer tonight. He had me on a mid until 7:00pm and them alone until close. I ended up sending him a text.

i work retail with an open schedule (meaning i'm free to work whenever). but my current shift is 1:30 pm - 10:30 pm. it's very rare that i stay until 10:30, so i always clock in about 1:15 (or earlier if i know we're gonna be slow....like today).
i get an hour lunch but usually cut it short most days by about 10 minutes or so. ot is only approved at certain times of the year (this isn't one of them); so i try to work it where i end up with 40 hours at the end of the week. i always check my wtd time on the last day of the week that i work and adjust my clock-in/lunch times accordingly. although sometimes i DO wind up with ot, it's usually at the consent of a manager if they ask me to do something that causes me to clock in early or stay a bit late. and i don't have a problem with that...just more $$$ on the paycheck. |
