Yeah, they're probably getting ready to attack, so you better get on it!

On topic, I unexpectently came home from work yesterday.
It's cool to help out around the house (I will be doing dishes shortly) and I love hangin' in with my Wife and Dog.
The forecast is looking really good for the weekend and we are not gonna waste it, just enjoy it!

Got The Office on the brain. Anyone still depressed about it coming to an end? I know it's just a TV show, but I'm truly down now that it's over..

It's soooo nice out! The deck and budweisers are calling me!
I'll get strung up if I do that before my wife is home from work though.

Hey guys, I have run into a sticky situation which I am worried about and I need your advice.

A year or so ago the father of one of my old childhood friends became the IT guy at my High School. I haven't talked to his son in years and I don't want to, for personal reasons I would rather not say.

His father checks in every month or so or whenever there is a computer problem so it has been easy for me to avoid him, until yesterday. I was working in the library and he came up and said Hello and that he was surprised that I still go to this school as he hasn't seen me in years. He had to go do something and I hoped it was the end of it.

But then today he saw me again (unlucky, I know) but this time he mentioned his son and how I haven't talked to him in years and that me and him should hang out some time and I said possibly and then the father said well maybe even give him a call sometime. But before he left he told me his son was going into the provinces university and asked if I was planning on going to College and I told him I where I was going (out of province). He left after that, telling me he would tell his son he talked to me today.

Now what I am afraid of is getting back in touch with this old friend of mine. I really don't want to (I can't say why). Do you guys think it will just blow over or should I approach the father and tell him that I don't really want to be friends with his son?

I am also a little paranoid that if I don't resolve this before I go to College, he might try and contact me there. What do you think?

it really is hard to give you an advice without us knowing a little bit as to why you're avoiding your old friend. from what you've told us, the father of your old friend seems like a nice guy. it sounds unfair for you to be telling the father that you're not interested connecting with his son again unless you're going to let us know what general reason you have for avoiding your old friend. i can give you an advice if you're willing to pm me the reason you're avoiding him and respond via pm instead if you're comfortable enough in sharing more info with me.

I actually don't have much to put on one. Besides the high school I graduated from, and the 3 or 4 jobs I've done. which have all been grunt work. And I've done the same job at almost every job I had. Mainly cleaning stuff up, taking out the trash. washing and sweeping the floors, making sure the bathrooms are clean, wiping down all the desks and objects in the bosses office. Washing dishes, weed whacking, shoveling snow, moving heavy boxes and working in a warehouse moving stuff. That's about the stuff I've done in my jobs. The stuff no one else wants to do, so I do it instead. Which means I'm willing to work hard and do the stuff others don't wanna. I'm a hard worker, just comes down to the boss or people who do the hiring.

trust me, it's just a one pager so by the time i've entered all the info you'll provide me, that one page might be full of information already. things have definitely changed...it used to be that you can just walk at a store and ask for an application and fill it out then submit it right on the spot. these days, everything has to be done online. resume needs to be turned in and submitted for your application to even be considered. add to that the pain of even writing a cover letter and having to change it constantly depending on what you're applying for.

i know you're applying for mostly minimum wage jobs, but it's time to turn in a resume because that might really help you in getting hired this time. you've already made the first step when you've told us here what you were doing at the places you've worked for. all you have to do is put the names of the employers you've worked for and use bullet points to tell us your responsibilities.

Okay, I'm PM you if you think it'll help me better. I have no idea what bullet points are. I know I'm a dummy.

no you're not (don't be hard on urself)! i'll look for a basic resume that you can use as a guide so that you know what to send me, and i'll help you create it then send it back to you. hopefully, you have a printer at home and all you'll need to do is print copies of it then you can start distributing it to all the stores near you.
