Anyone use a debit card online? I've read not to do it but I like to use those Visa gift card things for a lot of my online purchases (easier than using a credit card sometimes) and it would be much easier to do it straight off my debit card then buying those gift cards every time.

Link your debit card to a paypal account; then you won't have to worry.

Do you's Americans think the Dollar is accepted everywhere?
I'm not having a go,I find it humorous,I had a guy on my bus from The States who was shocked that he couldn't pay his fare with his cash.

I lol'ed at that! No, every country has their own currency. I think the only place you can use American money overseas is at a bank or something like that.

Not on my bus it ain't. what made it worse was the guy then wanted to pay by credit card and I had to tell him we don't take that either,I'm sure he thought "I'm not coming back here"

In his defense, a lot of shops in other countries do accept the dollar as payment. I remember on my first trip to Europe, I paid with the dollar in Venice, Rome, Paris for sure, and maybe Barcelona, but can't be positive on that one.

I understand that, when I was in Mexico they preferred the Dollar to the Peso.
Me personally,I wouldn't dream of stepping off a plane in another country without some of the local currency in my pocket,it surprises me how many people do though.
