Got my first speeding ticket today and of course it was bullsh*t, 47 in a 30mph zone which I know I wasn't doing! Wondering if I should mail in my not-guilty plea or wait until my appearance date. Can anyone here offer advice from personal experience?

Pay the ticket and take the Driver Ed. Class ( that they should offer ) to keep it off your record ...

I'm not guilty of what was cited so I'm not pleading so. I'm just wondering if there will be any difference between going to court on my appearance date vs mailing in my plea within 48hrs per instructions on the citation. I assume the option to mail in the plea is for out of towners... I don't want to show up for traffic court on my appearance date (in 3 weeks) only to state my plea and get a 2nd court day. This being my first occurrence I don't know how it works/what to expect to be honest

If you truly are not guilty than YES stand your ground and plead not guilty

Like sk33tr said, I've posted it. I'm just not sure what thread it was in BizCat? Long story short, we want something better for our family and Texas will provide that for us. Especially with The MiL making the move with us. Still stressing on the totes and getting everything close to packed up. I've got a majority of my collectibles separated. I just have to set the over sized stuff to the side and put them in new boxes instead of wasting space in the totes. Hoping I have some totes leftover once I go and pick up 44 more tomorrow. Because I still need to pack up the boys toys too.

Do you have a clean record Mike? I got popped ages ago for running a red or speeding in an area and ended up going to court. Because of my clean record the judge reduced the fine and told me as long as I didn't get another ticket in 3 or 6 months(?) it wouldn't show on my record. This was very important to me as I was selling cars at the time. Good luck on whatever you decide.
