The non-Skynet Japanese disc is identical to the non-Skynet Optimum disc from the UK. Same higher-bitrate AVC encoding. Still, all versions are made from the same, ancient transfer. There's only so much you can do with it.

I thought he had. He looked almost 10 years older and I am willing to bet that's one of the reasons Cameron cut that scene.

No if you listen to the commentary he explains it.

According to JC commentary he states that certain scenes were cut because it already treaded over previously given information to the audience and/or changed/slowed the pacing of the film. The Kyle Reese scene simply wasn't needed. The scene of Sarah having a dream about the nuclear attack then John reading outloud the "No Fate" line she inscribbed onto the wooden table covered the dynamics of changing the future with current actions.

Same with the deleted scenes explaining how the T-1000 can touch objects and calculate information this way. The whole deleted scene of him on John Conners bedroom going over the walls and items with his fingertips.

Yup, people expecting miracles with the current master are going nowhere.
Garbage in....

Absolutely. That was my take on it as well.

Watching the EE I can tell why things were cut, and it made for a tenser, tighter action movie, but the stuff they added in hugely increased the sci-fi element. As a fan it added a lot to me, since I'd seen the movie dozens of times before I saw the EE.

Is James Cameron redoing these or not? I have waited 4 years so far. As I understand T1 is still crap, T2 is better and T3 is good. Do I still have to wait or do I have to give up on the franchise like I did for RoboCop?

Cameron approved T2, so what are you waiting for? T1 has been remastered but not released yet, and T3 looks fine. Posting in bold letters won't make anything happen any faster.

Are you saying the Skynet version is IT? I remember hearing it was being redone again. In any case, I'm waiting until I can get all three at once.

As I posted on the skynet edition:

If finally got to watch it last night (skynet edition), and honestly I dont understand why people are complainting about the transfer, IT LOOKS AMAZING, I have never seen this movie in a better quality than the Skynet edition, it is in my top 5 of movies that look amazing on blu ray.

7.99 on best buy.

Gus
If you compare it to T2 transfer it might look good (Personally think it's the same transfer),but amazing? But if you're happy with it,don't let me pee in your desert.I for one is underwhelmed by the transfer. But I think we have to wait until the Abyss,Titanic and True lies comes out before we see a new transfer...

Why would it be getting re-done again? Like I said, Cameron approved the transfer and the disc isn't that old. I haven't heard the rumor.

I agree with this. I'm from a generation that first watched this film on VHS. I have never seen this film look as crisp, sharp and colourful as it does on blu-ray. I was blown away when I first saw it on blu-ray and I can't imagine why anyone would be unhappy with how it looks. It compares to any number of modern films in terms of picture quality.
As an example, look at the desert scenes with Linda Hamilton. Just awesome. So much detail and clarity.

My only complaint with the Skynet Edition is the lack of extra's - you can't watch any of them on their own, only in a tiny PIP while the main film is playing. Shite. My old T2 dvd is far better for extras.

But for the main film, well, I can't imagine it ever looking better than this.

I wouldn't hold my breath! I doubt very much, there will be another T2 blu-ray transfer, because there is nothing wrong with the Skynet Edition. Some people you just can't satisfy regardless. If a blu-ray is absolutely flawless, they're find something else wrong to complain about...It's impossible to please everyone!

Are you kidding? Do you know how many releases there have been of T2? Of course there will be another one on Blu. The Skynet BD is good considering it's from an outdated master, but the movie could look at lot better.
