No technical details but I found the El Hazard blu rays to be really unimpressive. The original OVA is solid, I'd say respectable. The 2nd OVA and The Alternative World are not very good.

My guess is due to the source material. At least it was cheap.

As someone who did buy it, where exactly on the credits would I find it? I could check for yinz

When the English credits role after each episode.

Also, you can look out for dimming in the OP.

I’ll check once I find it if no one else beats me to it. Trying to still get the house back in order and stuff got packed at random in the chaos. Hopefully it’s here and not in the storage.

Still no idea where my decent blu-ray player is. Finally hooking the game systems back up tonight. So if I find it I’ll use one of them.

The "Disc Credits" are on the last disc under "Special Features", that's how Sentai releases have worked since around November 2018. As for episode credits, the English black screen credit roll after the episode previews, it'll then end with copyright info of the title, and then "[year] Sentai Holdings, LLC", like so.

Only the first OVA was released on BD in Japan, so I'm assuming that was a new transfer, and the second OVA and Alternative World were upscales done in-house at Right Stuf, but I could be wrong.

No, you're right, that's exactly it; the first OVA was a HD transfer done in Japan, but none of the rest of the franchise was done. So the only way for Nozomi to do BDs of the rest was to use the materials available for an in-house upscale. It's not impressive in comparison to the first OVAs, but what can you do? I think they did decently enough, give the limits of what they had to work with.

Makes sense, thanks for that info. It's hard to even recommend Alternative World if you already have the DVDs. Nice boost to shelf space though.

For the Limited Edition version, Disc design said 2021, and I checked the OP; yeah the dimming is still there

What about the UK release by MVM? Does that also have dimming?

It'll be Sentai's disc, so it 100% will. Either way it's a hard skip from me, even more so as it has an awful Sentai dub rather than the VSI one.

Personally thought the Sentai dub is significantly better so the exclusion of the weaker VSI dub IMO had zero impact on my purchase. Subbed is pretty darn good too.

Not having home video masters kind of sucks but I haven't seen even proper comparisons to know if there's substantial redraws (if any) of the actual animation. Dimming for me isn't that noticeable and not as annoying as missing footage or not being uncut that has affected other releases.

I wonder if Sentai will correct this issue in a later release. Did Dororo get the broadcast masters as well?

Fans of the series will want to consider the pros and cons of the series release and whether or not it is worth it to pick up the release.

Would have been nice if they could have mentioned all the omitted extras from the combo pack release because the DVD discs were dropped.

I wonder if they'll review the Blu-ray-only release of Is This a Zombie? which is missing an episode from S1 because for whatever reason, it was released DVD-only, it was like that on the Anime Classics combo pack as well.

Not 100% sure about this, but that missing episode was an OAD episode released on DVD only in Japan, and IIRC, the license forbade a BD release of it. That's what I seem to recall hearing, anyway.

Partly true: the OAD had a JP Blu-ray, but only a few weeks ahead of the US release
https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0088NLOZG

Whilest I agree that this most likely initially prevented the US Blu-ray of this episode, the episode was included in the German 2019 release. So one should assume that the hold back time is already over...
