Generally speaking the term "homer" means you have 0 objectivity, nothing but a cheerleader who waves pom-pom's, will never admit to anything the other team or in our case "product" like HD-DVD has is good or worth owning, someone who is basically a sheep. There are tons of HD-DVD homer's and there are tons of Blu-Homers. Just blind pom-pom waving idiots.... |

You said no one purchased DVD until the players were under $200. That is false. You guys like to quote a lot of numbers....it would be helpful to show where they come from. For the record, DVD didn't hit mainstream until surprise, surprise.....ALL STUIDOS started releasing their titles on DVD. I know this for a fact because I have sales data to back it up. When holdouts like Fox finally went over to DVD is when you started to see mass adoption. Personally I think $400 is too much for the common consumer at this point but you have to be crazy to think half the movies not releasing on HD DVD isn't a big deal.....not to mention the next two months heavly favors Bluray in strength of titles. Price is a second concern to full studio support.....I learned that back with DVD. |

Obviously it is you who cannot read. I am a Blu supporter but Im not blind to HD-DVD and the technology it offers as well as the threat to Blu-Ray. Go fluff your Blu pom-pom's. LOL

Outdated and obsolete technology will always be cheaper.
Two options here for leaving behind the obsolete DVD: 1) Move up to another obsolete technology, HD DVD. 2) Move up to the best that's commercially available: Blu-ray. Which do you think will be cheapest? Which is the best move? Damn, I should be a first grade teacher ![]() |

1. The other 95% is starting to decide right now that $199 makes them not want to wait any more. 2. This $199 customer would not have bought a $399 ps3 which is the cheapest Blu option!! 3. Warner is waiting to see if these units = software sales (may or may not?) 4. Toshiba has fired their shot, we need to return fire now!! 4th quarter come backs suck for the team that let off towards the end. |

No way. The war will not be decided until either Warner Bros. decides to go exclusive or Blu-Ray releases a sub $200 player. Until then, it's just going to go on and on. I think with Blu-Ray currently in the lead if they let HD-DVD catch up by releasing a low cost player it will just extend the war that much longer. People ABSOLUTELY will and are going to buy the sub $200 HD-DVD player. Why wouldn't they?? It's cheap...and like another poster said, anyone who buys one is going to not worry about Blu-Ray anymore....

Then would take them over to the film lab and dupe them (which was extremely naughty mind you). In the early 80s a local film enthusiast would run a monthly "family film night" at the elementary school where we'd see those same kind of 16mm prints It's rare to see someone who's come up like you on these forums, good to have you here ![]() ![]() |

i have to say, the PQ of 3 was very good, but after i finished 3, i put 2 in to check out the PQ and was pretty disappointed....it feels like the encodes from 1 & 2 were done a year ago (more on par with the early blus) and just now made it out.....pretty surprising since everything that has come from sony recently has been outstanding....dont get me wrong, 1 & 2 destroy the DVD versions, but they should be a mile above

I watched part one last night. Thought it looked great, but missing something. Tossed in part two for a quick view, about the same. Part three did seem better. Either that or the opening menu impressed the hell out of me. Either way, time to eat all that pre-popped corn I made months ago anticipating this trilogy. ![]() Last edited by tron3; 10-31-2007 at 05:54 PM. |

LOL whatever brah...it's total blind pom-pom waving for Blu-Ray for some. No objectivity. It's not opinion. It's blind loyalty. Sad thing is I'm all for blu-ray and try to educate all the people I know on it but as I've said, I'm not blind to the threats like the sub $200 player. The people who think Blu is unbeatable are just like the people who thought Beta was unbeatable. Absolutely no difference in their mindset and most were shocked when VHS finally over-took Beta. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

My first film on Super 8 was a film put out by Castle films later to become Universal 8. From there I bought films from Red Fox, Blackhawk etc. all were of varying quality. I also purchased dupes which did not come from original negatives but existing prints. Because of this, film grain went anywhere from tight (original excellent sharp negatives used to make the prints that were sold) to fuzzy (bad dupe made from a really bad print which you stated in your post). When describing Spiderman 2 I used the term grain only because of a film term. It was the only way I knew to describe my situation. Maybe I'm just driving everyone nuts and they're wishing I'd drop this altogether. To me there is a significant difference between 2 & 3. I was elated with 3 causing disappointment with 2. I wish someone who has seen both would weigh in. |

Hello Gentlemen,
Dyana here... Just wanted to tell you that I purchased the Spiderman Trilogy yesterday. When I inserted the first film, it played just fine. Then I sampled the second and a funny thing happened. The menu screen came on, yet the menu options were nowhere to be found, which of course was very frustrating. I almost wanted to return the trilogy and replace it. So I reset my player (BDP-S300) to the original factory settings and voila!!! It worked like a charm. Perhaps the person having problems with the second film should try to reset his player to the original factory settings, provided that it may help him as well... just a suggestion. |
