@KL Insider, I have been absolutely loving the star centered box sets. Will more be coming in the future? In addition, can we expect a Film Noir: Dark Side of Cinema V at some point too? Thanks in advance!

I'm still waiting for a number of AIP biker films to come to Blu-ray:

The Devil's Angels (1967)
The Glory Stompers (1967)
The Mini-Skirt Mob (1967)
Angels From Hell (1968) (Released on DVD only by Shout! Factory)
The Savage Seven (1968)
Hells Angels '69 (1969) (Castle Hill library?)
Hell's Belles (1970)
Chrome and Hot Leather (1971)
The Dirt Gang (1972)

There are what 2 maybe 3 UHD titles of B&W films to date?

Schindler’s List, Dr. Strangelove, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, It’s a Wonderful Life, Logan Noir, The Elephant Man, Psycho is coming soon. The ones I’ve seen, have looks great. So bring on more 4K Black & White movies!

Not disputing they don’t look great but I was commenting on the fact that B&W UHD transfers are rare. The poster I was responding to asked whether it was more likely that a noir would get UHD treatment from Kino over a title like Runaway Train.

I wonder if they've picked up any of the recent Shout titles that have gone out of print? Some of them, like Escape from New York and Mad Max, I could see getting UHD releases.

I would love for HAWAII to be one of the former TT titles now with KINO. And with a version of the original Roadshow release better than the standard definition flat letterbox used by TT. Probably not doable with the current MGM, though.

I wonder if any of the MGM/UA Avant Garde titles like Eat Drink Man Woman, Bent, and Marat/ Sade might be part of this deal. I think someone upthread said that Longtime Companion, part of the DVD Avant Garde line, was with another label, so I may just be out of luck.

As a late Boomer/early Xer, I grew up in the 70s when TV stations showed old movies to fill gaps in their programming that are filled by infomercials now. My generation was exposed to old classic noir, adventure and horror films, but few films from that era turn up on streaming services so kids today aren't developing a taste for them. Movies like "The Dark Corner" and "Laura" are doomed to pass out of the popular culture. and we'll be poorer for it.

Are you talking about the 1997 Bent, with Clive Owen and Ian McKellan? That has a Blu.

Also, would you be willing to license programs like this that had never been on DVD (e.g. Baby M, a 194-minute true crime miniseries with JoBeth Williams that was only ever released on VHS) to give them just a barebones DVD release, if necessary? There are a few of these miniseries and TV movies, especially true crime ones, that I would love to see, but VHS quality is so bad and I no longer have a VCR.

Thanks for any info.
We have 4 TV movies in the Universal deal we haven't announced yet, three from the 70s and 1 from the 60s. We also have a Universal TV series slated for November. We're working on a couple of other thing, but nothing confirmed.

There might be more, but the three I remember are a whole scene in Arizona with his boss, the Sheriff, played by Tom Tully. An extended scene in Lt. McElroy’s/Lee J. Cobb’s office after Coogan has blown the stakeout and the undercover detective played by James Edwards has lots more dialog. And a scene in Central Park with Julie/Susan Clark explaining the meaning of the area in the park that’s called “Coogan’s Bluff.”

Who knows if any of this material is accessible from Universal anymore, but it would be fun to see them as an extra.
I doubt Universal would have those scenes, but we'll ask them. Both COOGAN'S BLUFF and GAMBIT are receiving new 4K restorations by Universal Pictures in 2021, so both won't be out for a while.

I've emboldened the ones I think are most likely. Perhaps worth noting that Alfredo Garcia and The Train got 2 runs from Twilight Time, so that may factor into Kino's thinking.
3 of the 6 emboldened titles will be released on Blu-ray by KL.

No, those will be released through RONINFLIX. These are 9 newly acquired KL titles.
