1.85:1 is 1.85:1. "Correct enough" is still open matte even if they're switching from one TV standard to another ...

wasn't there a screening a few years back that promoted the additional scene at the end but when they got the print, it didn't include it

So now I'm seeing it Saturday night.

It's strange that both 2K and 4K are listed as 146 minutes.

Maybe there's an error somewhere. All will be known tomorrow night.

Yeah the possibility of there being an error in the listing is too much of a risk for me, so I'm gonna play it safe and see it Saturday. And I know if I call the TIFF Cinematheque, nobody will be able to give me a straight answer and I'll end up being more confused than I was before I called.

I doubt the "tennis ball" ending is on this restored version but I almost wonder if it could be.... my thinking is if the films sequel begged Kubrick's estate to open their film with that clip and so they figure might as well release it themselves also.

If it is included hopefully you get the option of the original US Theatrical with and without that ending.

Also, 146 mins I think you mean there.

LOL I'd be seriously worried if they're showing a 126-min cut of The Shining.

Damn, I'm SO F*CKING EXCITED to see this on Saturday. The Shining is my favourite Kubrick film and probably in my top 3 favourite horror films of all time. I guess we'll know for sure which cut this 4K version consists of when it's screened at Cannes on Saturday. What time is it screening at Cannes does anyone know? Otherwise, I'm gonna report back here after the screening on Saturday night and let everyone know for sure which version this actually is. I assume it's going to be the version with the "long lost" ending given the running time and the press release but I'll let you know for sure (unless someone else beats me to it).

It's tomorrow night, the 17th at 22h45.

Cannes site notes 146 or 143 minutes. It depends what page you're on

I'd particularly like a two- or three-cut version (depending on the inclusion of the premiere version) as I've been putting off buying the UK release for a couple of years now because it seems like a lot of coin just for a cut-down version of a film I already own.

Has anyone managed to grab the full HD poster from Cannes’ site? For some reason I can’t save it as a normal file.

Also, is there any news as to whether this will get a slipbox release, ala 2001?

Think you should re-upload it, Cannes doesn't like hotlinking.

The maze steelbook design is a lot more creative than slapping a giant red robot eye on the cover of a steelbook
