Of course it's possible So is replacing all the characters with CGI. Both are wrong.

Frankly, I don’t give a shit what his reasons were, anymore than I care why Spielberg ruined THE TERMINAL at the eleventh hour by changing its ending, instantly making it my least favorite film of his career. Even geniuses make the occasional bad call. And in Kubrick’s case, the fact that he never replaced the U.S. cut with the UK one is all that matters in the end.

He also never replaced the Euro cut with the American one before he died. What's your point?

It's more scarier in 4K, too!

As many others have said the PQ looks great for this release. Watched it in DV and knew it was going to be special just from the beginning looking at the mountain scenes.

I can relate to this.
I always felt the beautiful opening scenes looked like a VHS tape when I watched it on DVD.
Then it looked like a DVD when I watched it on previous Blu-rays.

The 4K disc was the first time I felt that the cinematography was done justice.
What a gorgeous way to start a movie.

My point is that, of the two choices, the American cut is VASTLY superior to the Euro cut. Would drawing a diagram help?

If you could that would be great.

Why are you such a nasty person? Why can't you just accept that other people have grown up with the shorter version and that is the version we enjoy. Just like when I commented about the shorter version not being included, the delight you showed was nauseating. I can only assume that you are a bitter spiteful person.

They cut out Halloran's introduction entirely?!?'. Even the skellingtons didn't bother me.

Strange thing was that the US cut didn't actually feel like I was watching an unfamiliar version of the film. I don't watch this movie religiously and I've always tried to maintain a copy of the US cut (had the US LaserDisc years ago, then I bought the US DVD, then most recently the HMV UK Blu-ray with the US cut) so I guess it's just seeped into my brain over the years. In a way, all the longer scenes of mundane domesticity make the scarier moments that bit more scary when they eventually come along. That'll do Kubrick, that'll do.
Euro cut is horrible, doesn’t even feel like a Kubrick movie. BTW, that laserdisc is still the best way to watch The Shining.

I suspect it's pretty hard to diagram non sequiturs.

What would help is giving the baiting a rest. You got your preferred cut on UHD and have already made it known with increasingly heated rhetoric that you think the other one shouldn't exist and that Kubrick's own preferences are meaningless regarding the issue. Why not go enjoy your UHD rather than continue to kick others while they're down?
