Exactly, they will present it in the correct ratio (1.78 isn’t different enough from 1.85 to tell a difference, so that’s “correct” enough. None of the ridiculous open matte 1.33 nonsense.)
What's your take on "correct" though? Because Kubrick composed for the British standard 1.66:1, which was his favorite aspect ratio and the one in which "The Shining" was exhibited in Europe, although he protected for 1.85:1 for the U.S. because not all theaters had 1.66 mattes. So on the one hand, 1.85 is the aspect ratio of the original domestic release; but it's not Stanley's preferred version, and personally I think the compositions reflect that. It's more claustrophobic, hypnotic and almost Wes Anderson-style symmetrical in 1.66. Then again, I also like having a TV-filling home version, so I'd be happy with either.

I just bought this used a few months ago. I probably would not watch this during Halloween season, but I'll buy it if it is cheap on Black Friday. Great movie to watch during a snow storm, along with John Carpenter's The Thing.

I really hope we also get the EU cut, since that is my (and Kubrick's! ) preferred version.
Also, original audio!

They mistakenly put comma in there, it should be "Japanese, Japanese forced" not "Japanese, Japanese, Forced".

so much incorrect info here it's staggering.

There is only one correct ratio, and the SK Archives makes this clear.

No mention of a new disc this time, and that has me all..."this means something..." over my mashed potato mound. The recent Burton Batman UHD announcements kind of, sort of, got around to confirming the inclusion of a new 1080p, whereas the actual packaging doesn't say. WB was pretty up-front about 2001: A Space Odyssey getting a remastered blu-ray with the UHD, as well as there being a stand-alone release. This time...I smell a policy change, and it reeks like a

I get why people wouldn't like it, but I think it's great. It feels like what you would see if the original novel was republished with a more cinematically thematic cover (that would probably piss Stephen King off).

Even if that's the case, what does "Japanese Forced" and "Italian Forced" subtitles mean? What difference are there from just "Japanese" and "Italian" subtitles?

I even tried googling, and got bunch of xxx adult sites shown in top search lol

Forced is only when characters speak a foreign language.

check out the packaging of the back cover art. It lists that the blu ray of the batman films have Atmos surround. That pretty much confirms it.

If it's only the "Tennis Ball ending" and not seamless branching, it's a non-starter for me.
Bad enough that the international cut is not included, but to not have the original general release is a joke.
