The signed edition of I COULD GO ON SINGING appears to be sold out at SAE. Missed the boat on this one.

It sounds like it sold out within 2 hours of being available.

It just wasn't as crisp to me as the other Harryhausen bds. I did think the audio was superb, though. As you say, I don't know how much better it could get but when I see the Sony 4k masters of First Men in the Moon and Mysterious Island it's very promising.

Definitely my favorite. The Valley of Gwangi was the first coloring book I ever had. It most likely was what got me obsessed about dinosaurs. I bought the VHS years later and remember being in awe watching it for the first time. I thought Ray Harryhausen was some kind of magician to make Gwangi "alive". I might still have that old coloring book packed away somewhere but what I'd give to get this movie on blu-ray.

Some potentially GREAT news for those who are interested in many of Twilight Time's titles, but would prefer acquiring them at a price and with a presentation similar to those offered by the other boutique labels: Indicator (Powerhouse Films) has launched in the UK. The first wave of twelve announced titles includes Body Double, The Last Detail, Christine, and Experiment in Terror. List price for these special editions will be only £15.95, so roughly $16 or less per for American importers from Amazon UK once VAT/sale discounts are removed.

Indicator editions will be expertly encoded using the finest available master materials, offer lovingly assembled extra features, carry new and improved English subtitles, and include accompanying booklets containing newly commissioned and contemporary writing.
As always, healthy competition benefits the consumer, especially when it comes to alternate options for pricey OOP titles, and/or ones that are being re-released on burned DVD-Rs with significantly higher list prices.

Does anyone know if their releases are going to be region-free?

I'm going to assume not, but presumably all will be revealed on Friday, according to their Twitter page: 'We'll be introducing ourselves on Friday 26th August!' Also, the £15.95 list-price I quoted appears to be their sale/store price, as Amazon has their list-price as £22.99. So the final price will be more like $22. Still, for those who want to avoid Ebay scalper prices on OOP titles like Experiment in Terror, it's nice to have alternatives.

I didn't want to extensively derail a thread devoted to TT releases, so it's best to continue the discussion in the pre-existing site thread I linked earlier, but considering the amount of crossover between the two labels, I thought it was worth a mention here.

I'm trying to remember, but hasn't it been previously mentioned that Sony International didn't license out films to other labels? If so, it seems like something has changed.

A post on Criterion forum confirms that this new label is being set up by ex Sony employees. That would explain their starting lineup.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but is there a reason why TT is still "awaiting fulfilment" for its August 16th releases?

Did you order from Twilight Time or SAE? And which titles did you order? My titles from the August 16th batch have all shipped.

I assume these numbers are for the stock left at TT's website and not SAE. The cart trick at SAE on these 4 titles still shows a minimum of 50 left of each. Still, I'm sure the numbers are dwindling fast so this is probably the last gasp on these via both sites.

EDIT: I have been corrected by easydreamer (see below). These titles are only available at SAE, not TT's site.

Mine finally shipped from TT today, too. Mine includes Theatre of Blood, Tony Rome/Lady in Cement, The Most Beautiful Wife & some older titles, so it looks like The Most Beautiful Wife was the holdup.

No, these titles are not available at the TT site, so these should be the stocks left at SAE. Not sure why the cart trick returns 50 though.

If I wanted Sleepless in Seattle I'd buy it since Sony will probably just put it out as an on demand BD-R.

I have to say that I've slowly come over to the dark side. I don't ALWAYS agree with their pricing strategy, but with the more recent sales and the like I've become more and more impressed with the overall strategy of TT... Now I wont' say I LIKE paying $30 for some titles, but after they have stopped doing encore editions and giving some VERY nice titles a home recently, I have to say that I've kind of lost my animosity toward them. They are what they are. If they have a title that I like I'll grab it, if not then no biggie. I just realied I kind of having like 20 of their titles now and some of them are really well done... I guess pigs do fly

The limited edition sales model irritates me and the prices of these Blu-rays bothers me, but I still enthusiastically give my support to Twilight Time, because I understand the logic behind their decisions, and, more importantly, because every single one of their releases that I own is a top-notch effort. I don't mind paying for quality as long as I'm able to do so.

I want four or five of the releases that go up for pre-order on August 31, but I'm going to have to live on nothing until next Wednesday in order to afford them, since I recently overspent on Scream Factory orders and on the upcoming David Bowie 1974-1976 CD box set that comes out next month. Here's to living off of fruit and nuts from the grocery store until then.
