Who knows. I remember post-The Blob there was a comment about Fright Night being 3000 only and that was changed, so I guess it could go either way.

Assuming that was correct this would be the time to switch if the existing supply had been exhausted.
I apparently did not even notice until I saw this post -- but my copy of The Bride Wore Black came in a Viva Elite case. So at least some of the new batch of titles were packaged that way...

They had to use the Viva Elite case because The Bride Wore Black is a 2-disc set (CD included).

All of my Twilight Time Blu-rays arrived in the mail today. Fright Night did, indeed, arrive in a clear case. The Bride Wore Black was in a 2-disc eco case, which I promptly replaced with one of my 2-disc Dynex cases.

A little patience is required when ordering from SAE!
My order has now shipped.

It will cost a fortune. Just buy the region free Sony disk from Amazon.de for a fraction of the price.

Why not just wait for the re-release later this year?

Very likely it's not coming out this year at all but rather early next year, when the 3 years are up.

I guess there isn't any Yentl thread?

I knew I didn't like something about this releases.
Was it yellow like this when it was released in theaters?

When I was in college I worked in a movie theatre that played it for two months, which meant getting to know it much better than I ever wanted to, and that looks closer to the theatrical version - which drew a few complaints about being 'too brown' from customers - than the DVD. It went for a sepia/earth tones look that was very distinctive on the print we had.

I see, thanks.
So it seems on the DVD they "forgot" to put that filter..
Although to tell you the truth, I prefer it like the DVD.

Is it the exact same transfer at the TT release?

It is the same underlying master as Sony supplied this to TT and released it themselves in Germany. What could be different is the encode used although both are on BD50s so should be similar bit rate. I suggest if you want to debate quality of the TT v Sony disks you do so in the Christine thread as this thread is for more generic TT queries.

In terms of when TT can reissue, the 3 years is up in March 2016, so expect it to be that month or very soon after. It will probably be another 5,000 copy edition this time like The Blob and the Fright Night reissue.

I watched three of my new Twilight Time Blu-rays yesterday.

Fright Night earns the bronze medal.
The Bride Wore Black earns the silver medal.
Breaking Away earns the gold medal.

I'm really impressed by Breaking Away in terms of movie content, presentation, and extras, and it's one of the best Twilight Time releases to date.

I vaguely remember seeing the TV spots for Breaking Away when I was a kid in 1979, but yesterday's viewing was my first time watching the movie. It's one of those films that apparently dropped below the radar after its acclaim that year, but it's a true gem, and I hope that more people here give it a chance.

My Bride Wore Black arrived with Leave Her To Heaven and I thoroughly enjoyed both!

Not only did the film "drop below the radar", but so did Dennis Christopher, which was a shame. He pretty much ended up playing not much more than a series of whack-jobs in low-budget thrillers. It's funny, because the other three friends -- Daniel Stern, Jackie Earle Haley, and Dennis Quaid -- had fairly respectable careers, but Christopher didn't.

And Paul Dooley was such a stitch. "He's never tired or miserable." "He's young." "When I was young, I was both tired and miserable."

Now here's a title I'd love to see pop up as a signed promo.

I remember when Breaking Away came out. I went to see it based on a positive review from Siskel & Ebert. I think there were maybe 10 people in the theater. I loved it so much that I went back to see it again the next day, which I don't think I've ever done with another movie. I thought the characters reminded me of guys that could have gone to my high school and I was also touched by the relationship of the Dennis Christopher character and his family, He's the only one in the group who has a healthy relationship with his family, and Paul Dooley and Barbara Barrie are terrific. Breaking Away is a true ensemble piece, as each character gets their moment to express their dreams and/or frustrations. Peter Yates shows that he can make a bicycle race as exciting as a car chase and the dialog rings spot on. For the most part, the film has aged well, with only the townies vs. the fratboys sub-plot seeming tired now.

Trust me, if you get this movie, you won't be asking for a
.

I still haven't watched my TT copy yet. I was thinking of saving it for a double feature with Diner, another coming of age ensemble piece.
