Yeah and for extra icing on the cake, my daughter received her back to school supply list in the mail today. What the heck does a 6th grader need a $150+ graphing calculator for(I didn't start using those until I got to high school, and even then I never had to own one)? Oh and due to budget cutbacks and destruction of school materials in the past, we're required to pay a $400 deposit PER text book used this year. That's 1200$ right there. I really feel for those parents with 2 or more kids in school and still barely making ends meet.

jeez, that's insane! $400 per book used?! EFF THAT NOISE!!! and $150 for a graphing calculator?! screw that, too!!

just makes me think more and more about home-schooling. well, if i had any kids.

i tried to get my sister to do that with my youngest niece, but she didn't want to go through all that. but i think that if i had kids, i'd really give it some serious thought.


ot: i've been modifying my gas cans. i cut off the little lock tabs on the cans themselves. and i cut the lock ring off the cap. i don't need any of that safety crap. also, i put in a vent using a tubeless tire valve. why gas cans don't come with vents anymore is beyond me.

Fixing a killer meal for some teacher friends that returned home after their summer break in Michigan...dry-rubbed pork tenderloin on the rotisserie --> pork sliders, roasted smashed potatoes, all the fixins (jalapenos, pimento cheese, etc.) and assorted artisan cheeses. Oh yeah, and BEER, sh*t tons of beer, it's the weekend b*tches!!!

Something similar happened to me not too long ago...they tried to withdrawl $500 via my bank account over a weekend hoping it would slide right by me. Yeah, no. Cancelled the transaction and disabled access to my bank account.
