My dream one day is to chill in the bathtub and watch TV like Tony Montana once did.

You can only have one "that's the dream", are you sure you want to use it on that?

Browsing the BR boards of course and also checking out my posting history on IMDb. Also looking for the very first line that August Dieh (Gestapo officer) delivers in the tavern scene of Operation Kino. Brilliant scene!

Coffee and watching The Purge: Election Year while I wait for my kid to wake up so we can plan the rest of our day. Damn kid sleeps a lot, I've been up since 6am - ran 2 miles, showered, did 2 loads of laundry, ate breakfast, AND made it 3/4 of the way through this 90-something minute movie.

Do some mock interviews first, that'll help, even if it's just with a mirror.

About to have some lunch, curious to see just how much chicken is in these massive cans.

Relax and be yourself. I've passed on many a potential employee because they seemed over-prepared and disingenuous. If you can't talk off-the-cuff about your accomplishments, ideas, and methods I'm going to find it hard to believe you.

That reminds me of one hilariously bad interview I conducted a few months ago. The candidate showed up with folder full of powerpoint presentations he said he made at his previous employers. All clearly marked with that company's logos and templates and all marked "Internal Use Only." Um. No thank you.

Yeah I think the biggest problem I tend to have with interviews is I get really nervous so a lot of my answers probably sound silly or rehearsed. Definitely need more interview coaching after I get my BA.

I don't know how much coach can help. Maybe it does for soem people. But the biggest hurdle is that you're talking to somebody you don't know, but who is going to be making a very big decision in your life. That stress can't really be duplicated with a coach.

The best practice is practice. Apply for a log of jobs, treat each interview you get as both an opportunity to succeed or an opportunity to learn.

It also helps to go in prepared with questions you want to ask that could potentially make you not want to work there. That way you're both being interviewed for a job, and interviewing them for the privilege of employing you. It changes the dynamic a bit if you're willing to walk away if you don't think it's a good fit.

Yeah I just don't seem to get called in for a lot of interviews here, haven't been interviewed since...May 2015. Definitely need to do something about that, which right now seems like school and networking in school so I know people I can reach out to for a job after I graduate.

Networking is good.

Also, the best job search site, based on what I've seen as both a job seeker and a manager, is LinkedIn.

Make sure you have a LinkedIn profile, and make sure it's detailed and up to date. You can fit in a LOT more information than in a resume. Literally the first thing I do when I get the names of people HR wants me to look at is search for them on LinkedIn. Every single time.
