Yep. You can use any kind of oil (Wesson, Generic, Etc.) and once it heats up you just drop them and wait. How long you leave them in determines how crispy they become. If you are feeling frisky (and okay with ruining the oil) you can put spices on the fries to make cajun type or what not. I can usually keep the oil for a few days to use with boneless chicken or cheese sticks. If I add spice the oil has to be changed out.
