You don't want me teaching people, I have poor social skills and I have no patience. I've applied at quite a few places, all I can do for now is wait, don't think it's been long enough for me to apply again anywhere.

Just remember that key fact that there's a light at the end of the tunnel after all of that hard work.

Yeah and the work isn't even that hard so far, just a lot of memorization and going to class. Glad I attended NMSU last year and got getting acclimated to attending classes and doing schoolwork again out of the way. Never been this motivated before to do well and I hope I finish all my classes with As so the school I want to attend after I become more financially stable doesn't have any reasons to wait-list me.

It'll be 2 years in a couple weeks. It was the second to last Sunday of January. I remember that cause that's the same day the 49ers last the NFL championship.

the more you should try to become one then. i had poor social skills and still do but i did it anyway because i wanted to challenge myself. and you know one of the best things i gained from it is the fact that even though i consider myself really STUPID in math, i actually did tutor in math and was successful in helping college students get better grades (of course, i tutored in many different subjects as well but i never thought in my wildest dream that i'll ever teach someone on a subject that i'm extremely uncomfortable in).

My sister is the teacher in the family, I may be a bit smarter than she is(we're both pretty bright) but she's much better at helping other people learn things. I credit her with the fact that both of her children seem to be exceptionally gifted. She's much more school-crazy than I am too, she already has a master's degree and now she's going to graduate school.

Whatever I've learned over the last 10 years I taught myself. And that would be screenwriting. Bit by bit I've learned more and more everytime.

[QUOTE=Captain Kirk;8629536]Good luck with all of that!

Thank you very much!

OT, I am watching The Oilers losing at the moment, but have good scoring chances and could come back in the 3rd.

USC is probably your best bet at succeeding in that world, if you can ever get into that school.

Restaurants are about to get plunged into turmoil if the minimum wage really goes up to $10+ an hour but we probably shouldn't delve too deeply into that particular topic as the staff here frowns upon political discussion.

Places want to give you as little hours as possible because they don't want you to fall into the bracket where you can qualify for insurance and benefits if they offer it. Employers would rather have a lot of employees split the hours to work part time shifts. They know that people have a hard enough time finding any work whatsoever so that's why we settle for a part time job, and obviously people cannot survive on part time pay so they quit because hours are crap. Employers love this cycle because they hire new part timers which will just get fed up w/ the hours and said process starts over again.

I threatened to quit sometime during my tenure at my last job due to 3 shifts a week and after that I worked 5 shifts or more a week the rest of the way, for the most part.

Exactly, that makes senses and why they wanna hire younger I'm assuming. And if they feel someone is getting out of line they just fire or the person quits and it starts over again.

That's great, not a lot of places would do that. It's just getting more and more hard everyday for someone to get a decent job w/ decent hours.

Restaurant jobs are a joke for the most part, not sure why I stuck with my last one as long as I did but I would be more than happy to never work in one again, hence my decision to return to school. I probably could've gotten a degree in restaurant management which is what one of my former co-workers did but I am just so bitter towards that industry. Pharmacy Tech seems like a bridge into a much happier life for me.

Yea, being in the food industry business all my life has put so much unneeded stress into it. Being out of it now, I cant tell you how much better I feel. It might not seem like it could, but the physical wear it puts on your body is insane. Mentally as well, especially if you own a place.... I too, was thinking of going to my local college next year and attend their pharmacy tech program. It's a 3 month program which costs $1,000 and includes supplies and books. You then take the PTCE at the end and get help with job placement. I'm mainly going to do it to have that under my belt as an alternative backup!

It'll do for now, assuming I get a good job placement after I get done, I do want to get a PharmD degree eventually. Not sure if I'm smart enough to get it or even if I'm going to like Pharmacy Tech enough to want to go further, that's why one step at a time. Watching Smallville, I was trying to study this commonly prescribed drugs online textbook but so far it's not really grabbing me.

Yea, that PharmD would be nice, especially with the pay starting around $100,000+ annually
