Many movie 2K upscales to UHD-Bluray look good picture. It's BETTER 4K film DI
I personally prefer a slicker and smoother picture. Graininess makes me feel like I am looking at a picture drawn in sand

I just bought this player today. I have to watch my 4K collection over now because before I was just upscaling the bluray disc on the Sony BDP-6500. So far the only movie I have watched is Amazing Spiderman 2 ultra HD Disc it looks really good.

It's good but some of teh scenes like the opening scene with Peter's parents is way too grainy for my taste. XMen looks slicker and smoother IMO

Has anyone had any problems with this player making a loud buzzing sound. It happened to me once at the end of Amazing Spiderman 2. When I turned it off and tried to play Fantastic 4 UHD Disc it lost connection and you could not see any video and you could only hear Audio. I unplugged everything and rebooted and seems to be ok for now.

Hey guys, question.

Do you think I should wait until PS4 Neo comes out(hope late this year) or just buy the Samsung now and enjoy?

Also does anybody know if the HDMI cable from Xbox One Forza 6 edition which was release last September will work? It does say High Speed? I did just order a cable and will be here on Monday but I might buy the Samsung tomorrow at Best Buy.

I was in the same boat as you trying to hold out. I went down to Best Buy today and bought this player. I would probably just go down and get it and enjoy for now. You can always sell it down the road when better players come out or when the PS4 Neo comes out which from what I read probably wont be until next year.

I used a 4 year old cable that cost me £2.50 and it works just fine.

So since the update I switched to Standard & now let my TV do the magic. Looks much better as the update added black crush to my User setting.

Watched The Revenant on my SDR. Holy crap that looks good with Standard + RGB Enhanced.

I still have to switch back to RGB Standard for any BD.

When you say "Standard" what are you referring to exactly? Something on the player or something on your TV?

In the player Deep Colour is recommended to be turned off over on AVS forum, but in the review on CNET, they HIGHLY RECOMMEND turning it on. So which is it?

Actually I think they meen the UHD Colour setting on the TV rather than the player.

TV probably. A 4K TV without HDR.

I have the deep color turned on and believe it should be ON if your TV set supports 10/12 bit color.

I am just curious on what picture settings is everyone using on the player. I keep going back and forth between User, Standard and Dynamic.

I have the KS7000 which I believe is a 10 bit panel, although I have had HDMI Deep Colour turned OFF in the player settings as that's what I had seen recommended.

So I guess I should switch it to AUTO instead?

Deep Color was not meant for uhd but for regular 1080p

I don't think this is true. Perhaps the term "Deep Color" is misused, but my understanding is that for 4K the deep color is the extended 10/12 bit.

Deep Color adds extra processing and moves the original picture away from the way it was meant to be seen. Skin tones particularly will appear altered and unrealistic
