This plays Netflix, Amazon, and Vudu in 24p, right?

Auto mode will choose 2160p signal so player will do upscaling for blurays, Auto chooses highest resolution of connected TV
You can leave it on 2160 as well |

So no difference between auto and 2160? Why not just leave it in 2160? THen no risk of getting black screens.

Becasue if you play discs in 1080, then 2160 is not the correct option. Auto is the only option that will handle whatever source you throw at this player, thus the more practical choice

Only reason to mess with the setting at all is if you want your TV to upscale BD content rather than the player. |

... I'm saying the "auto" and "2160p" options are exactly the same. Auto just detects your TV's highest supported resolution and outputs at that. The only thing different would be setting it to "1080p" so your TV upscales BDs. That's it.

After hooking this up and playing with it a bit, I'm happy thus far. Do not own any 4k Blu Rays yet, so just trying some std. BD's and it seems to play them fine.
I see what you guys mean about the remote being tiny. The overall size doesn't bother me as much as the directional buttons being so cramped within a bank of other buttons, and with so little surface area, I can see how it could be an issue. I will look into the alternate remote linked here. The one thing I did not like was when I hooked up my WD Passport 2TB drive. It read everything fine, but the interface is clearly Samsung's older (like 5 years old) UI for USB device browsing. Much prefer the style of the UI that comes on my KS8000, and will continue to use that instead. Looking forward to watching some 4K Blu Rays! Revenant, Pacific Rim, Lucy... what's gonna wow us the most, you think?? |

What would happen if you have player set at 2160 res. and play a DVD in 480p?

Hello all. Having the player upscale compared to the tv ups calling. Is there a real difference or pretty much the same quality. I also have ps4 pro for 4k content.

If someone could explain difference from player upscale to tv. 2160p . I have Samsung 40inch 4k tv. Usually watch standard for less than 1080p content such as Hulu and DVDs. And use natural setting for Netflix and blu rays. Is there also a difference for auto motion plus standard setting compared to smooth. It's a little tricky to tell the difference. With both I notice motion blur for fast action scenes
