Google needs an update.

Well I can't wait to get my player in 2018. Maybe I should get it, sell it for Sony's.

One change I noticed is that the VUDU app no longer has the lipsync issue for Dolby Digital non-Plus soundtracks. Well, maybe a tiny bit, but nowhere near as bad as before. Files played via USB are still FUBAR though. But that's good that they're already fixing issues before the player is even officially released.

You guys are free to dismiss these because they are from my Galaxy S6. but the difference in these pictures to me is OBVIOUS.

1st picture is from hitman, the rest is kingsman

in the last picture, the top and bottom part of the picture is blurred because of the type of lens used on the camera, so look at what in the middle (windows, etc). i absolutely hate this type of lens used.

anxiously awaiting the "real" screenshots so they do nothing except confirm what ive already posted. clock is ticking!

Stumbled into an HHGregg earlier to see if I could find an external hard drive and I spotted this player out on the shelf. No sign, no anything, I half expected to pick it up and the box be empty. Convinced my wife I needed it and entirely forgot about the hard drive I was looking for. Normally I would have never paid this price for a player but I justified it with the steal I got on my 4K TV last month ($280 ). Went to a Best Buy around the corner and picked up The Martian as it was the only one I had any interest in but I will be picking up Sicario and Fury Road next week.

Hooked it up when I got home to make sure at least one port on my TV was HDCP 2.2 compatible and it ran with zero problems. Made some adjustments to the settings and my TV and did comparisons between the 4K and 1080 blu. I'm hooked already. Very noticeable detail uptick and color stability. My wife who doesn't care about the techy stuff was even impressed. I screwed around with it for another 2 hours setting up my Netflix, Amazon, HULU, and Vudu accounts and popping in random discs to check out the upscaling. I gotta say the upscaling is astonishing. Having been only using a 1080 supported player since I got the TV, I was floored about how fantastic my already great looking blus looked using the full resolution finally.

The remote sucks and it's kind of annoying there's no front display but once I collect a few more 4K titles, I'll be completely satisfied. Super fast loading times too as has been mentioned before. The streaming seems fine as well. This is one hell of a launch player and as long as the discs aren't crap (like I've read about Wild), I'm with 4K for the long run.

I like reading stories of people popping in their 1st discs and being impressed right away. Id say the rate right now is around 80% or higher, only seen a few people who werent and could possibly be a settings issue.

the discs so far are very good, wild is a complete dud but theres quite a few good ones.

I would suggest besides martian:

kingsman
chappie
smurfs 2
last witch hunter
enders game
expendables 3
sicario
mad max
san andreas

the other fox titles besides wild (which is aweful) are decent, but might wanna wait til they drop in price, same with the sony movies. try to get them for cheaper eventually

Thing is, I can't see myself double dipping from anything I already have on blu, Fury Road being an exception as it's one of my absolute favorite films. I already own Chappie, EX3, Ender's Game, San Andreas and the rest don't really interest me. I did hold off on Sicario to avoid double dipping because it still came with a regular blu and didn't dream I'd be investing in a player this soon. I'm glad I did, but now comes early adopter syndrome. I'm gonna want everything on the new format and may be discouraged if most new films aren't released on it. Then again as I said, the upscaling is beautiful, especially on some of those "Mastered in 4K" Sony discs with the expanded color. Ant-Man looked especially good too.

Stopped into Best Buy today and bought this for a friend. (He payed I just picked it up) went back to his house to hook it up and test it out. Now his 4K tv is very small. 40" so I was worried we wouldn't see much resolution difference. And I was correct it was slightly better (using the Martian 4K and regular blu-Ray to compare) but the colors were amazing. They really did pop! Very deep and Rich and stable. I gotta say I was really jealous. Then we tested the difference between blu-Ray in the new player being upscaled compared to regular blu-Ray on a regular player... That was a game changer. The upscale was incredible. I definitely was not expecting that much of a diffence in quality! Up scaling is now a significant factor to me as I could see myself really bennifiting by getting one of these to watch my regular blu-rays on. In conclusion id say he's satisfied with the player and I'm extremely jealous.

I'm not quite working with a top tier TV and yes, the 4K disc is a pretty decent step up from 1080, but the upscaling was goddamn stunning and sold me just as much as the 4K disc itself. It truly is incredible.

Just got my shipping conformation from Amazon. I'll have the player tomorrow, super excited. Downside, my fox connect ordered won't be here until Monday and my Amazon order won't be here until Tuesday. Guess I'll be off the Best Buy after the Predators game this afternoon.

Just need to figure out what to pickup. Trying really hard not to double dip. I'm not against it, just not at the $30 price tag. Leaning towards Exodus.

I just called my local Best Buy and the rep said they had two in stock. He then informed me that they were already spoken for and that the magnolia home theater center had a list of at least 30 people for it. I have a feeling this will not be available for anyone trying to go out and buy it tomorrow.

Sounds like they underestimated sales (which is a good sign for the format but of course bad for the people who want the player).

Can someone please tell me which are the correct settings for the machine to be on when playing a 4K Blu-ray with HDR? Also, does the new HDMI 2.0a cable make ANY difference at all?

As far as the cable, I bought a 4K certified one when I picked up my player just in case. I'm taking it back as one of the cables I've had for years is working just as good. I would experiment with ones you already own just so you don't have to spend the extra money unnecessarily.

Owners, it has been discovered that RBG enhanced makes a big impact on picture.

Brighter
More vibrant

Also opens up hdmi black level setting on your tv, which adjusted can alleviate the black crush that alot of people have ever reported.

Feel free to experiment.

Will likely wait for comparative reviews on the Panny or Oppo or patience willing, even hold out for the SONY, before buying in,if I'm able.
