Does this player have a 1080p output setting and, if so, has anyone tried plugging it into a 1080p tv? I'm very curious if it would be possible to watch a UHD disc, downscaled, on a 1080p tv and still take advantage of the 10-bit colorspace.

Interesting- thanks for the details, guys.
So, it looks like the players will switch HDR off when you down-convert to 1080p, whether you want them to or not. Meanwhile, I still wonder if the 10-bit color signal can pass through. It would seem the down-conversion spec is designed to meet the HDMI 1.4 standard, so I'm guessing this would exclude the possibility of a 10-bit color signal. Can anyone confirm? |

Just got a player at bby, picked up the Martian. I really didn't know what else to get and don't want to double dip too much.
Any recommendations? For those curious, the had a dummy box displayed, I picked up the last one. I wasn't hassled at all over the purchase. |

Just watched chappie, my 1st uhd movie with a 4k di.
Thoughts: It looks pretty good overall. Always been a fan of how sony movies look. But in no way would I say it blows away the martian or kingsman. There are many scenes in both the martian and kingsman that look just as good as the scenes in chappie. The difference being that the martian has a few more scenes that look lower than 4k quality, as did chappie but not as many. I would say that chappie is more consistent with their truer 4k scenes but the martian has more wow. I will say that I thought the motion was very good on chappie, better than most of the fox titles. Hitman 47 has aweful motion artifacting. Last edited by ray0414; 02-26-2016 at 06:14 AM. |

finally got my player last night and watched parts of kingsmen and Martian. Looks amazing. Not as much as i was hoping, but that might have something to do with my LG EF9500 OLED tv that makes most everything i play on it look amazing. Still super excited to see the format improve above this. Hope the amazon app gets HDR playback soon.
