Ouch. My two latest players have drawers that open and close when only they feel like it, I've lost count how many times the disc has been caught half in and half out as the drawer closes by itself.

Since I just got a new CD in the mail I figured I'd try out the Rip to USB feature. Doubt I'll ever feel the need to to that again. Doesn't search for the album details and is incredibly slow (and that was to 320kb MP3, can't imagine how bad lossless would have been.)

Good news everyone. Both WB and Sony's titles are being delivered to Best Buy stores on Thurs 2/25 with Lionsgates titles arriving on Fri 2/26. All launch titles have their street dates listed as 2/11 or 2/12 so there should be no problem buying any of theses as soon as stores receive them. You just need to find one that isn't really strict with what the website says. Life of Pi, Maze Runner, and X-Men DOFP are still currently MIA after a supposed manufacturing delay.
Unfortunately stores only seem to be receiving 2 players each this week to meet the ad minimum for Sunday. |

That sucks that only 2 players will be available per store. Any idea how soon they'll receive a new shipment? |

$30 is my max, but I think they may be higher since Amazon has the SRP at $45. But if $30 then I'll pick up a couple. After all, Fox is making me wait for 5 of their movies (3 of which are manufacture delays and the other 2 tied up in preorders with those), so I'll need something to watch in UHD.

So, no being an early UHD BD adopter doesn't suck at all, on the contrary it's very exciting (partly because expectations have been exceeded). ![]() |

Amazon dropped their price today. Also, the warner brother and sony movies are scheduled to hit best buy Thursday and can be sold same day. Best buy employee confirmed. |

I'll go there in a few days to see what they've got. I might exchange Exodus since I haven't opened that one yet. Edit: Just checked BB's site and yes the Warner movies are $30 so I think I'll preorder for store pickup. I've got about $55 in rewards after buying my new TV so may as well use it up. ![]() Last edited by bruceames; 02-23-2016 at 09:39 PM. |

Current BDs, new, aren't even at $10-$15 for new releases. You might have to wait a while for UHDs to hit that. If ever. And, boy, I hope Cliff doesn't see that post. $30 is also my max, Bruce. It's easier for me to drop $30 a movie now than it was in 2007, when I was naught but a college junior. But it's the principles. $45 is nuts. |

I stopped in at a local Best Buy here in San Bruno, CA and they said that the Colma, CA store (a couple towns over) had 2 units in stock. I headed over and the salesperson said they were in the back and he wasn't sure if he could sell them yet. He checked with his manager and got the ok, so I was able to take one home. They had just put the first batch of FOX UHD Blu Rays out on the shelves today also. I picked up Exodus, The Martian, and Kingsmen.
If anyone lives near Colma and wants a player, they may still have the one left in the back. I think they also had Fantastic Four, Wild, and Hitman Agent 47 on the shelves. |

All SONY titles are in stock if you want any of those movies. I just ordered one, Amazing Spiderman 2 as that was the only one I was interested in, but it looks like all the other ones are also in stock. My order should be here this Thursday unless any issues come up.
No such luck yet for any Warner or Lionsgate titles. |

Just make sure it's high speed. Heck, even I didnt have high speed cables the first time I plugged mine in (read, a cable from like, 2008) and it worked fine. Now I do, though. |

HDMI 2.0a is a spec for HDMI and HDR. All you need is the HDMI 2.0 18gbps marked cables if you want to be covered for everything. Blue Jeans Cable FE series are good, media bridge has inexpensive 4K 18gbps cables.

Spiderman has the least amount of HDR in it too. THere will be a resolution bump and a slight color bump, but of all the sony movies, it has the least "hdr look". another user over at AVS just watched the SM2 disc and he said the exact same thing i said a couple months ago after viewing it on amazon. he said though that chappie looks alot better. |
