It's not that visible in motion really, assuming you aren't smoothing your 24p out anyway. If you pause it then BOOM ugly, but in motion it's pretty hidden by the normal 24p motion blur. I actually think the example on the wood post earlier in the movie is worse, because it's not moving, but I seem to be the only person who's noticed that one.

Early on when Clint is talking to his kids in the pig pen? I noticed that too. Also there's some weird fizzing noise behind Clint during his close-ups in the canyon scene. But yeah, the force field bit looks 100x worse when paused, in motion it just looks a bit 'edgier' than normal.

I noticed the fence post as well. I don't see how anyone could not.

I don't know why they even bothered releasing this. You can't find it in store anywhere to buy.

Best Buy briefly had a place for it in the new release section (even though some stores may have never filled that space).

And now Amazon has finally dropped the price on it while still not having it.

I ordered from B&N as part of 40% off sale plus 15% off code for $60+ orders (also picked up Planet Earth II 4K and something else).

Wonder if I'll get the slip? That's my concern. I don't have UHD yet, but I'm working on a small collection for when I upgrade. In the case of Unforgiven, I don't even have the old blu, so I'm looking forward to seeing it on my big screen.

I can only see the 'windmill' issue, and it looks like a combination of an out of focus background, the contrast between the structure and the bright background sky plus whatever is inherent to the encoding method. The other bits, like the fence post in the scene with the pigs and the kids, I can't find.

I'm using 24Hz on a mid-range 1080p TV thats a few years old plus a PS4 as my player.

I assume the Australian version is identical to all the others (if would be silly if it weren't). Even though I'm pretty OCD (I let that stupid line down the middle of the frame in old version of Goodfellas Blu ray ruin the movie for me!) I haven't had anything distract me or stand out on my viewing of this version. I don't have a 4K set so I can do a scene by scene comparison using the 4K disc. I did check the old Blu ray and the artefacting around the windmill isn't there, but it's still not clear on that version, as the blooming of the sky plus the plane of focus make the structure look 'skinnier' than it really is.

Glad I got it either way, there was a sale and I got it for the equivalent of US$14.50

Try to order from B&N.

Mine has shipped, apparently, so if it's still in stock then that may be the best bet.

Thank you lots! I wasn't aware Amazon was matching B&N. I went ahead and ordered through them and it gave me free shipping.

I was able to price match my Best Buy order thankfully.

I ordered it last night for the $26.99 for whenever it comes back in stock. I'll just wait for it come back in stock... tax already jumped it up to $29 something, and I have free shipping at Amazon.

I hope it's not months, or never.

It says in stock June 16.

I'm still waiting for the price to drop even further

Smart man.

Says arriving June 19th on my order now, yeah. I'm sure I'll regret it when I see it finally hit $19.99 but I've been consistently pleased with most WB releases so far, after price waiting all of them.

I don't want to send them the message that they get to be $30+ top shelf while other great stuff is $17.99 day 1 (and I'm loving it)... but the force is strong.

I bought the UHD HDR version of this film from the Kaleidescape store and downloaded it to my Kscape Strato and watched it tonight. For those who don't know about Kscape. The movie files they sell for download are bit for bit copies of the files encoded on the disks.

Technically, I thought the restoration was successful. The UHD HDR treatment was effective. It looked very good, although certainly not demo quality. The DTS-HD MA soundtrack was serviceable too.

The film itself was an artistic triumph. I had never seen it except on TV and so never penetrated its many intricacies until I watched on my Strato. It is dark, cynical, and sad but very, very thoughtful. It is a contemplation on the kinds of random events that can lead to waves of violence. Its Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor (Gene Hackman), and Best Director (Clint Eastwood) were all richly deserved. 10 Stars out of 10. The film gave me so much to think about, I want to watch it again soon.

The price dropped today to about the same as the lowest price Goodfellas has been. I didn't wait around and snagged it.

Even $27 is too much for this, I'm patient enough to wait for $20 to lower. WB and these $30 catologue titles suck.

I know, but WB doesn't seemingly want to budge much on UHD catalog titles. They may just drop them altogether if they don't sell.

Goodfellas hit $19.99 once, that's when I got it, but I was waiting for about 5 months after I got my player to see it happen.
