I couldn't wait that long. The movie has grown on me... and let's face it... if these things don't sell, it's one more excuse for Hollywood to give up on discs.

Right now WB is trying their luck with the higher price point to see if it's a viable strategy. They can easily see the numbers of $20-$25 price points from competitors and if they move more product. My rule is this (speaking as someone who has invested heavily in everything from laserdisc to 4K), if it's a new movie I can get on board the $25-$30 price for day 1 release. Catalogue stuff, Unforgiven, Harry Potter, etc I'm not paying $30 for it. $20 is my highest for those. |

Got mine today too.
That was a beautiful watch. Most I've ever really appreciated and felt immersed in this movie. Hard for me to comment on how it compares to any other releases, or how it originally was in theaters, but it sure beats the hell out of the last time I saw it streaming years ago, rented it on VHS or caught bits of it on broadcast TV over the years ![]() Really makes me appreciate this era of movies as classics from my youth, rather than stuff I just remember coming and going. I can only hope we get some Sergio Leone up in here at some point. I didn't throw the bluray in or have an older release to compare it to, but when I went to youtube to find a clip of the final bar scene to post somewhere, it was unwatchable by comparison... damn near pitch black. The UHD was beautiful, inviting vistas that made me want to get out of the city, and rich, dank night/indoor scenes all throughout. (I'm better with description than I am with technical) Also, man... I thought about the price after and realized it was the same or less than the two of us going to see a movie, but I enjoy it way more, everything looks better at home on UHD with this TV, and I get to watch it as much as I want. |

I love the Eastwood westerns. In fact, I'm a Western fan from way back, when every other movie released was a Western. The Wild Bunch, The Magnificent Seven (1960), Shane and all of the John Wayne classics to name a few. One of the later Westerns that I really enjoyed was Silverado, which was the start of Kevin Costner's acting career.
Got the Unforgiven 4K UHD on its way from JB Hi Fi's BOGOF. Really looking forward to watching it after reading LoSouL's impressions. Last edited by PS3_Kiwi; 06-15-2017 at 01:46 AM. |

In my mid 30's they're like soul food to me now, and "graduating" from stuff like Tarantino to Sergio Leone really opened my eyes to how absolutely masterful and artful they can be. Lot of catching up to do. |

I moved a few months ago and it just seemed to vanish. So I guess it's good I bought this. Edit: Now I feel like I'm going nuts. I don't show it in my Amazon or BB history so maybe I thought I had ordered it but never did. Unless I picked it up at Target, but I thought I had purchased it on Amazon Last edited by flyry; 06-15-2017 at 06:44 PM. |

I literally laughed out loud at work.
I usually add something to my collection after I purchase/pre-order. Occasional I'll add it when I'm bored at work but obsessing and know I will order it later that night. That must have happened ![]() Or I ordered it from Ebay. Either way the new and improved version is on the way. Last edited by flyry; 06-15-2017 at 09:03 PM. |

I compared the 2 last night and was surprised at how the HDDVD version was sharper, brighter and more colorful. The 4k version looked good on it's own but if you asked someone which version they preferred, I know the HDDVD would win hands down. The 4k looked muddy and drab in spots. I viewed both on a professionally calibrated OLED E6.
