If I didn't already own Taxi Driver, I would be on this, as the compression looks perceptibly better to me. |

Compression stuff is usually more apparent in motion, from my experience, as the eye can better distinguish compression noise and image detail. There are a number of spots in the original disc where I feel the compression isn't quite up to the task of rendering the grain cleanly.
Of course, if your viewing environment doesn't allow you to see those low-level details, then I'm sure it'll be a wash. Last edited by 42041; 06-03-2013 at 09:05 PM. |

But I would draw the line at those 4 releases. If you're a bonus content enthusiast, and can afford it, I would recommend all 4 of them as upgrades. I kept my old releases for the extras, and combined each one in a dual-disc amaray, kept the original sleeve and used the 4k slipcover. That way I still have all the package info at a glance, AND being Sony there is interior art on almost all their releases(small, but a nice perk IMO). |

Godzilla Blu-ray Men in Black Blu-ray Moneyball Blu-ray Pineapple Express Blu-ray Spider-Man 2 Blu-ray btw, people's reactions are fantastic. They make slightly improved quality versions and instead of being happy people react strangely. Reminds me of the reaction when VHSers faced with LDs, LDs faced DVDs, CDs faced SACDs and DVD-As, DVDs & HD-DVDs faced BDs. The more things change... ![]() Last edited by Deciazulado; 06-05-2013 at 05:47 PM. Reason: Now showing on Amazon Canada too as Mastered in 4K |

I'm positive, if the Mastered in 4K releases had all the extras of the previous releases, there wouldn't be as much complaining. |

If there's enough space left over after increasing the bitrate for the feature, they should include the commentary tracks on the feature disc and the other features on another disc. I don't know how much space commentary tracks generally take up, but they don't need to be lossless.

Maybe the extended cut edits were not done at the 4K level
(of course any video junkie worth its salt could edit-in those parts) but then the slipcover couldn't say mastered from 4K could it ![]() The lack of extras when there's space may be a creme-de la creme only in the disc marketing decision. (Seems not very popular) |
