Shoot 'Em Up as well... at about 56 Mins... I had it jump to 8.2 once but couldn't get the screen to pause there.
Any other big action flicks with Master tracks?

It barely hit 6, which is pretty weird.
This will still sound amazing when you have the right set up though. Like having a big rig truck running through your house!

Hey everyone. I just posted the firmware update news in the forums on the site that I review for. Did I miss anything? Please let me know if there is anything that I should add/remove.

Thanks. I modified 1 sentence to mention that DTS HD Master Audio supports up to full 7.1 surround sound. I also added a nice little flourish at the end of the post.

Here's the DTS link.

This is the traditional 7.1 layout.

This is the Full Rear Surround setup.

There are 7 different 7.1 setups that DTS HDMA can support depending on your own speaker setup. I assume for the PS3 we get the traditional layout. The decoding effect would be the more or less the same.

I think he meant the 7.1 on New Line titles showing as 5.1 on your receiver. It's a bug.

Actually this what causes the 7.1 bug.

The New Line montage at the beginning of the discs shows correctly as 7.1 on the receiver, but the main feature shows only 5.1. This is caused by the different 7.1 setup applied to the main feature.

Has anyone checked out any of the early Lion's Gate blus? The reason I ask is I threw The Devil's Rejects in just for fits and wiggles to see what the audio track was outputting at. My PS3 says its a DTS HD MA 6.1 track at 3.0mbps. Now previously, it only outputted a DTS 5.1 at 1.5mbps. The reason I bring this up is that reviews of this BD have stated that this was a lossy DTS:ES track at 1.5mbps, so I'm wondering if those reviews assumed that based on what the players could output at the time of review, is the PS3 throwing out default mbps based on it being a DTS track, or is the DTS HD track on the BD some DTS codec btw DTS:ES and true DTS HD MA? (sorry 'bout the long trip to get to my point)

How are you connected to your amp? Optical or HDMI?

Yeah. with composite connection (yellow, red & white) you are only able to produce a picture of 576i, and stereo signal, upgraded to Dolby pro logic, if your tv is pro logic surround of course. So in actual fact although the screen says Dolby Digital you are probably not hearing it that way, your TV will downscale the DD track to pro logic.

In order to combat this you need an actual surround sound amplifier, with either 7.1 or 5.1 compatibility, and if want to hear the DTS HD MA you will need an amp that decodes DTS HD MA. The more popular one is the Onkyo 605/705/805. This is the model most people seem to have on this site.

You can't even get DTS to play in Dolby Pro Logic, as Dolby and DTS are not compatible with each other.

Do you have an HDTV?

You are definitely not getting ANY surround sound out of your setup if you are using those crappy cables. They are only able to output a stereo signal, which is literally only 2 speakers!!! You may want to respond with, "But, I can hear sound coming from my rear speakers." However, that is not surround sound. When using RCA (red & white) cables for sound, a good receiver will actually send the front two speakers their respective sound while using those same front streams to mash together a third stream to send to the back speakers. What you are getting there is called Dolby Pro-Logic, or Neo *something or other* if it's a DTS track. So, the sound from the back speakers is actually just sound from the front speaker cleverly masked to fool you... if you have a 5.1 speaker set.

WOW. Never realized that! I do have an optical audio cable but when i plugged it into my Pioneer, it didn't seem to work. My Poineer is a really old amp, can that be the reason why my optical didn't work? Thanks
