I don't like the feet design and have worries that it will not fit on my TV stand, worries that I would not have had if the display instead were supported by a center pedestal like last year.

I can't help but think of this smilie, and not in a good way:

It's like it's got little leggies, it looks stupid. Gimme a pedestal stand any day.

To be fair this is ...kinda my thing.

These TVs I currently have look like Disney, and the X900F looks like Blade Runner 2049.

LG's 'OLED Canyon' perfectly symbolizes the excess of CES 2018 - Mashable

Quote:
Did we really need this?

LG Electronics must have had something to prove this year at CES because it went over the top with its long, winding, 92-foot-long "OLED Canyon" made up of more than 240 displays.

Okay, fine. It's really, really pretty. But it just seems like a gigantic waste of energy — even in a place with enough gadgets and gizmos to outshine the Las Vegas Strip. This pathway is bright as hell.

The canyon experience is a follow up to LG's extremely successful "OLED Tunnel" that premiered at CES 2016. This year, eager to build something just as Instagram-friendly, LG decided to give us a haunted house-style walkthrough experience.

Lines built up quickly, and it's practically impossible to get a good photo because literally everyone is holding up their phone as they walk through. Somehow, we managed.

Besides the eye-popping brightness of the displays, there's really not much to the experience. You hear the loud sound of water falling and a bird caw — but that's about it.

It's basically like the world's worst amusement park ride. I mean, the least LG could do is push me through the 92-foot experience so I don't have to walk myself. My feet are killing me!
I thought it was a interesting example concerning modular display stacking also showing off the flexible OLED's. Just wonder how they can top this.

The next few years are going to be a hell of a time for HDR in general. All the growing pains it's suffered will be worth it in the end.

Whats nice though, is 2017 and 2018 are pretty golden, HDR10 and DV are matured nicely, PQ and calibration ability is very nice among Sony and LG. Good times.

It was a rough couple of years when plasma died and all you had was highly expensive OLED and displays that did UHD and not HDR, still waiting on HDMI to work out. Now its fixing to get all jumbled again with HDMI 2.1, but I am not upgrading all my gear any time soon. HDR10 and DV are just fine for me.

When you start talking about $500 players, $2000 AVR's, on top of a new display, 2.1 can kiss my... right now.

I am so happy with HDR and UHD right now, you can't make me care.

Sure it won't have much use at the current time unless you have an Xbox One X but the 48gbps cable/hardware standards are very forward looking and won't be replaced anytime soon so it's worth waiting for, especially given the moderate updates to TVs this year.

Thankfully I only have a TV, an all-in-one surround soundbar, and my Xbox One S--the literal heart of my entertainment center--so I don't have thousands in specialized AV equipment holding me back. Yet.
